2 November 2009 photo update

Someone needs to go to Churchill park at St Clair/Spadina/Av area to get a really good photo of Casa/X etc--I didn't have time to stop and take it yesterday afternoon.

This morning from the westside:

Thank goodness Mies had the old Bank of Toronto building razed - his splendid assemblage of pure Modernist forms would've been impossible otherwise.

Though, interestingly, he considered other spatial arrangements for the site - with the banking pavilion elsewhere on it.

Nov. 7th Update

A shot of X from Jarvis Street and a couple of photos of the balconies progressing

It is indeed. The work on rooftop mechanical began about a week ago.

I was driving down Mt. Pleasant just south of St. Clair for the first time in a long time and I got quite the jolt when "X" seemed to suddenly appear in front of me. It was huge!! It makes a real impact on the skyline from that vantage point. Especially since you are viewing it north/south from its slender side. If anyone wants to trek up there with a camera I would strongly recommend it.
