This is a huge improvement over what was there previously. Now if only Yonge St streetscape can be improved and extended and Doris south extension also needs to be built to help improve the traffic flow.

Here's an update on approximate opening dates.

L.A. Fitness- Dec. 2018
IQ Foods- Jan. 2019
Whatabagel- Feb. 2019
Flock Rotisserie- Mar. 2019
Potatopia- late Dec./18- Jan. 2019

Surprising that L.A. Fitness will be ready so quickly yet Longos will take almost 1 year more to complete.

Surprising that L.A. Fitness will be ready so quickly yet Longos will take almost 1 year more to complete.

L.A.Fitness is opening at their promised date. They started getting all the building permits around December last year.

Longo's most recent promised date was Spring 2019,... a couple weeks ago I started hearing unconfirmed rumours of Fall 2019. Longo's have all their building permits since last Spring,... and interior construction/renovation should only take them about 6 months,.... but for whatever reason, store interior haven't started, yet (hmmm,... beginning to sounds like a familiar theme around here - a-la Metro at EmeraldPark).

Anyways,... photo taken a few days ago showing them putting finishing touches on lighting on 4th floor for L.A.Fitness,...… and nothing happening on 3rd floor Longo's.

Construction on "Pivot" is proceeding at a good pace of one floor per week. The unit configurations look small, condo size compared to the large 1 bedroom units in Forest Laneway built in 1975. In the photo, the larger areas on the east and west sides are probably living-room, dining-room, kitchen while the smaller spaces in the middle look like bedroom areas.

The top floor was poured on Mon., the concrete set over-night, Tues. morning wall forms went up and Tues. afternoon concrete was poured into the wall forms. Wed., wall forms were pulled off and the floor form modules were pulled out from the space below and raised to prepare for the next floor pour. The last photo shows the south end of the building with exterior lights, metal exit stairs (probably a fire exit) and large concrete pavers on the walkway.

Princess Consuela;
I spoke to the owners of Five Guys and Blaze Pizza and they were unable to set an approximate opening date. I'll update when info becomes available.

Adding to Constructo's photos,.... Pivot tower construction is at 6 floor,.... 1st floor took forever - mainly due to customized height and thus forming add joining existing structure and reinforcement below,... now routine Flying (Table) Form system creating 1 floor per week with identical height,.... with 29 more floors to go plus mechanical means 30 more floors,.... 7 more month to top out in July, but add another month or so to August since Mechanical floor and Penthouse usually have non-standardize height and would need more customized forming. Then add 6 more month to finish up interior of apartment units,.... so at this rate, occupancy should be around Feb 2020. A bit earlier than RioCan's Spring 2020 occupancy promise date.

More than a rumor: (from the Toronto Star)

Miniso’s Canadian operations are facing a court fight that could force newly-opened operations of the Chinese discount retailer into bankruptcy.

According to Supreme Court of British Columbia Court filings, Miniso Guangzhou LLC has filed an application seeking to begin bankruptcy proceedings for the brand’s Canadian business.

Miniso first entered the Canadian market last year with promises to open 500 locations within three years.

The company is accusing Miniso Investments Inc., Migu Investments Inc. and Miniso (Canada) Store Inc. — the operators of about 50 stores selling Miniso products in Canada and have another 10 locations in the process of opening — of fraudulently transferring registered trademark rights to third-party corporations, disposing of inventory and ceasing to meet liabilities as they came due.

The Dec. 12 filings also say the parent companies are owed the Canadian equivalent of $2.4 million (U.S.) in loans and $13.3 million in inventory.

An affidavit filed by Miniso Guangzhou LLC’s senior legal counsel Ting Shi says the trio of companies that Miniso Guangzhou LLC has made a filing against have “committed acts of bankruptcy,” are insolvent and do not have sufficient assets to pay what they owe.

The lawyer said the company filed the application because it is particularly “concerned that it has lost control of the Canadian operations and, in particular, the Miniso Brand, the integrity of which is likely to be irreparably damaged by the insolvency.”

The accusations Miniso Guangzhou LLC and Ting Shi have levelled have yet to be proven in court.

A Miniso spokesperson and a lawyers representing both sides did not immediately respond to The Canadian Press’s requests for comment about the court proceedings.

The proceedings come as Miniso is staging an ambitious expansion across the country, with locations continuously popping up in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec.

Miniso first entered the market last year with its wide range of household, beauty, technology and food products that it sells for low prices.

At the time it promised to open 500 locations within three years and industry watchers expected it to threaten Montreal-based bargain brand Dollarama Inc., which has long had a hold on the discount goods market in Canada.

Miniso has yet to say what will happen to the Canadian stores currently open or its plans for further expansion if the bankruptcy application is successful.

A hearing is expected to be held regarding the matter on Jan. 7 in Vancouver.
