Re: Toronto's waterfront is altogether wonderful. Really. Ho
I agree with the above post about it being fully supported. I think we will have to wait a few years before we see press about how it is actually a good addition to Toronto as well as its waterfront.
I too have flown porter and find it very pleasant and highly convenient. I walked to the airport from my place at Front & Spadina and took their shuttle home.
I flew from Ottawa to Toronto. Took off at 7am, landed at 8am and was at work downtown by 9am. It would have been an impossibility if I had to fly into pearson.
For an independent contractor such as myself everyday of work counts. Thanks Porter!!
On a completely different vein of thought. There is an island in the caribbean called St. Martin N.A. and the island co-exists with its international airport. 747's fly over an inhabited beach which hosts a hotel at one end and a bar and nightclub at the other end. Further surrounding that is a multitude of new condominium and time share residences.
At one time Maho Beach was home only to the airport however it is now in itself a tourist attraction and the airport is the focal point. I believe the harmonious interaction between the water, land, and air of this place is the reason for its success. Surely if a small island in the caribbean can find a way to interact with its airport than Toronto can with the island airport.
Maybe its just a dream but what if the island aiport was celebrated and watching airplanes land was enjoyable as watching the sailboats float by in the summer?
Here's a photo of a 747 landing at Princess Juliana Airport.
