I say nope. The 503, according to TTC statistics, is one of the most underlized routes, along with the 502. However, in my opinion, the 502 is more popular, and the 504 NEEDS more Flexities, because the CLRV'S cannot handle the demand. However that is not really possible with all the streetcar delivery delays going on.
The TTC changed the route for the 503 so it now runs over the 504/514 route from Spadina to Broadview. From observation on the street, a large % of people waiting at stops take it rather than waiting for a 504/514. Many want to get off before it turns and others actually want to go further east on Queen Street (some, of course, may take it in error!)

If you're using that delivery chart posted above you do count those units. December of the previous year is the number actually delivered (IIRC) not the number intended.

If you want to count them as being for the previous year then you need to adjust the previous years numbers up.
Given the fact tat TTC was to received 70 cars in 2017 that was reduced to 65, then 64 to 63 and only seeing 59, with 4461 sitting in CP yard for days waiting to be delivery and 4462 in transit, then those 2 shouldn't be in this quarter numbers.

It becomes a number games as how the 2017 cars get roll into this year numbers. Been told BBD doesn't count shipment twice with 4460 & 61 being 2017 counts. 4462 is questionable.

For BBD to smell great this year, wouldn't be surprise 4460-4461 are used as first quarter numbers. This would mean BBD only needs to ship 4470 to make this quarter numbers and anything after it arriving at TTC Hillcrest this month is gravy.

Regardless of quarter numbers, TTC needs every new car they can get their hands on, since they don't want another winter with current fleet like the last 2 years. ALRV's will gone shortly with the worst CLRV gone as the year goes on based on deliveries of the new cars.

As for naming cars, you can have a few with names since I have seen this on various locomotives in Europe with large numbers of the same type. More PR than anything and no big deal not naming cars considering there will be more than 204 cars in TTC fleet in the next 10 years.

If Toronto named its streetcars, my nominations would be

4401 - Stephen Del Duca (started, but no finish)
4603 - Beaudoin Family (let them wait the longest)

- Paul

I'm not sure if this has been posted in this thread, but in Ottawa they held a contest where school children were able to name all of the vehicles on the LRT:

I know that LRVs aren't anything new or exciting in Toronto, and that we have many more vehicles (204 here vs 40 in Ottawa), but it might be cute to do something like that here too, at least so we aren't talking about "4466" or "4467".
I'm for it! I think it would be great to have a couple hundred named-cars in the network.

This is the chart the rest of us are using:

Just so I understand, you're saying they delivered more in 2017 than BBD or TTC claims they delivered in the above chart (29 rather than 27) because you're counting 4460/4461 as 2017 deliveries. (Note, 4462 wasn't delivered until mid-january).

So, you are only expecting 9 "drum timeline" deliveries in Q1 2018 instead of 11 on the "TTC timeline" right?

Big thank-you to the person maintaining this page:

4466 is sitting out in the yard.

4465 & 4467 are out for testing. 4467 is the earlies in some time that a car been out for testing shortly after they arrived.

Do we add 4460-4464 to the list for 11 cars in this quarter considering they were supposed to be Dec 17 schedule?? 4460 was off loaded Jan 2 after arriving in Toronto before end of the year, 4461 was off loaded Jan 5 and was in transit at year end. 4462 off loaded Jan 10 and 4463 off loaded Jan 29. 4464 off loaded Feb 01.

If we deduct 4460-4462 cars from the 11 due this quarter, then 4463-4473 are the cars due this quarter. Since 4469 is in transit, this leaves 4 more cars due this quarter.

The most recent BBD targets included only up to car 59 in their schedule, for a total of 29 in 2017. The 11 target includes 60-64, so for the first quarter we should expect cars 4460 - 4470.

4465 has enter service on 504

4466 has been in the yard the last 24 hours.

4467 in service bay

4468 is tracking in the lake

4469 close to been on TTC Property

4470 is on property At Leslie Barns, this morning.
And a darn good thing it is because 11 of 50 of the ALRV fleet are now listed as retired/scrapped at CPTDB, and 57 of 200 of the CLRV fleet are now listed as retired/scrapped at CPTDB.

So with all that are here - notwithstanding a huge capacity increase, there is a net increase of 4 or 5 vehicles to despatch. Oh well. They needed to empty Roncesvalles for construction, so no worries about where to put these vehicles any longer.

Hi 8610 - hope you’ll understand that since you’re a new member and there is no picture of 4470 leaving TB and that before Christmas someone thought it would be funny to say cars were on property when they weren’t, I’m not going to take your word for that.
