Though I am certainly not volunteering to do this! (!!) it strikes me that someone ought to create a chart that would be "sticky' at the top of this thread with a list of all 204 new streetcars and their actual arrival dates plus a chart showing the latest delivery schedule. There is a list on Wiki ( see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flexity_Outlook_(Toronto_streetcar)) but this gives only year of receipt and UTers expect the day, if not the hour. One of our more obsessive UTers may want to take on the challenge?
This is as good as you can expect to get, and if you don't like it you should consider signing up as a wiki editor to help them out:

Thanks, I am a Wiki editor but had never seen the site you cited. Looks like exactly what I was suggesting and I hope others here look at it. (I just made the link to the full table you noted a bit more obvious in the general Wiki article on the Flexities which is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flexity_Outlook_(Toronto_streetcar)#Delivery_summary )

  1. Negotiation with Bombardier Transportation Canada Ltd. on Liquidated Damages due to Delays in Streetcar Deliveries (This report contains advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose, and/or litigation privilege) (For Action)
Immediate Next Steps:
• At the June Board meeting, the TTC will consider the procurement of additional streetcars to meet customer demand.
• Bombardier to begin production at their Kingston plant in October.
This has added some confidence that they will meet the original commitment of delivering 204 new streetcars by the end of Q4 2019.

TR Mean Distance Between Failures Mar 2018 407,535 km 600,000 km
CLRV Mean Distance Between Failures Mar 2018 5,638 km 6,000 km
ALRV Mean Distance Between Failures Mar 2018 2,357 km 6,000 km
LFLRV Mean Distance Between Failures Mar 2018 14,777 km 35,000 km

The actual streetcars are excellent, its just the delays that are the problem.

The TTC wishes to have even more streetcars (60 more) after the initial 2019 delivery of the 204 existing in this order.

As long as Bombardier keeps to this new revised schedule, rather than re-tender out for a new company, the TTC and Bombardier should strike a deal to continue to build 60 more of these streetcars once this order is done, with X number of free streetcars to compensate for the cost of the delays.

So we get say, 60 more streetcars for the cost of 50, or something like that. This is what happened with Montreal and the Azur delays. They are getting a couple of free trains.

This means we will get the 60 immediately after the 204, and costs can be saved from a re-tender process. Plus we know these vehicles work, and costs will be saved in maintenance by sticking to a single trainset.

The arguments that "Bombardier should not be rewarded for their incompetence" and thus we should go with another manufacturer are nothing more than childish "fairness" battles in my opinion.

While it might not be "fair", this would be the best outcome for the city. And thats what should be most important.

Besides, even if we don't go with Bombardier, it won't affect them in the slightest. The government will just bail them out anyways.

Saw 4475 heading southbound on Leslie to its new home at 13:49 today.
Was it under its own power or being Pull, as it had major issues on Monday at Hillcrest??

A car went up to Hillcrest yesterday to bring it to the Barns, but due to the problems, it was sent home. Another car was supposed to be sent up to Hillcrest early today.

According to @Drum’s transcript of TTC data, no class of TTC railcars are meeting their MTBF targets.

Are the targets realistic? Have they been achieved in the past? If so, why are they now unattainable?

PS Next shipment has been released from T Bay, no ETA yet.

It was under its own power. About 2 minutes ahead of it was 4430 with "Training Car" on its destination sign.

Absolutely should be achievable. 35,000 km MDBF is very lowballed distance for brand new LRVs. TTC bought some real lemons and these things are suppose to last for 30 years?

Siemens could produce a LRV achieving an average of 59,000 miles or about 95,000 km. Why can't BBD make something that runs for 35,000 km?
