I actually liked Andy Byford for what it's worth.

The problem is that the TTC board and City Council want yes men. They want someone who will say "sure, why not let's do this!" all without opposition to their hair brained schemes.

Well he did choose who came next :/
 
Got this email today. I think we’re getting close to a launch. The link to book a ride doesn’t appear to be active quite yet, though.

Book a ride? Shouldn't you (at least at Rouge Hill station) simply get on one at the GO station?
I believe it’s a COVID measure. Only groups from the same household are allowed on at a time. You can get on if nobody has booked a ride, but have to get off once someone has booked a ride.
 
The transit apps seem not to reflect "real time" for bus arrivals or transfers today. They say "2 minutes" for the bus arrival, but nothing shows up, but for another 12 minutes. Don't know who to blame? The TTC or the app?

Was bang on for 506, twenty minutes ago. It predicted a 4-pack ... and lo and behold that's exactly what arrived. Next Vehicle sign in the opposite direction seemed good too.

Perhaps it's just a route issue? Sometimes they catch one heading the opposite direction, and predict it is driving backwards. :)
 
We seem to be getting new streetcar tracks on York and (I assume) on Adelaide at least from Victoria to York. See: http://app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2021.EX28.14

City Council approve the permanent installation of additional streetcar tracks in the westerly middle lane on York Street, between Queen Street West and Adelaide Street West, to accommodate TTC 501 Queen streetcar detour during the Ontario Line Queen Station construction and provide ongoing streetcar network resilience and authorize the associated amendments to City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 910, Parking Machines and Meters, and Chapter 950, Traffic and Parking, as listed in Attachment B of the report (November 23, 2021) from the General Manager, Transportation Services.

EDIT: The full Staff report notes that the City plans to extend (replace) streetcar track on Adelaide all the way from Church to Charlotte. The section from Church to York being done first and it appears (??) the section west of York may not be done immediately but .... (TO In-View still lists it all being done in 2022 and 2023

Too bad they aren't taking the York tracks right down to King Street.

I completely agree but this Report is only dealing with what Metrolinx are paying for. The City is still intending to re-lay track on Adelaide west of York and bringing 2-way track back to all of York certainly makes sense as it could also serve King diversions. Let's hope they do it properly!
