Wasn't there a overshoot problem that would increase the chances doors open in the tunnels if they went would a longer train with manual operation? I supposed that happened more often with the 8 car G trains but was not reported back then.

An 8-car G train was almost exactly 6 feet longer than a 6-car M/H/T train. If that 6 feet was the cause of an overshoot, than the operator had other issues that they had to deal with.

With these new trains, sure, overshoots could be a problem in manual. And so it may be that they may be required to operate in automatic mode whenever possible, unlike today where the operators are allowed to operate in manual after asking for permission.

This might pose another problem for the trial:

Crowdsourcing automaker Local Motors will cease operations this Friday, according to employees, TechCrunch reports. The company has not yet officially announced its imminent demise, though its reactions from its workforce have already appeared on LinkedIn.

“As with most adventures, they must come to an end,” Jeff Hollowell, Local Motors VP of information technology, wrote on Thursday. “Local Motors has closed its doors. It has been an exciting, challenging, and educational experience working with Olli and all the team at Local Motors. I was fortunate to work with amazing individuals and help build what others said could not be done! I’ve been able to grow as a leader and learn new skills that I now take to my next path forward. Thanks to all the team members and partners that I was able to work with. The time spent was well worth the effort.”
Well I’m glad I was able to get some photos of it at least.

The City, TTC and Metrolinx have jointly agreed to conclude the trial in Toronto due to several reasons that are expected to continue delaying service to the public past the February 28, 2022 planned end date. Local Motors has recently ceased operations and is no longer available to provide technical and operational support. In addition, the Ministry of Transportation has suspended its approval to operate the trial in Toronto due to an unrelated incident with a Local Motors shuttle in December 2021.

Looks neat but I don't understand how it would directly translate if that was possible

Almost two weeks since the "blizzard of 2022". Still the bus drivers are requesting passengers to exit using the front doors because the back is blocked by snow windrows. Sometimes, they have to be in the intersection to let off and let on passengers, because of the snow windrows. Transit stops are low priority for the city, with the elite motorists getting first dibs at snow removal.

I live near West Park Healthcare Centre (provides specialized rehabilitation; complex continuing care, long-term care and community health services helping individuals manage difficult health challenges like lung disease, stroke, amputation and musculoskeletal issues arising from a life-changing event or illness). Normally, the patients would walk using walkers or motorized wheelchairs. Trapped in the facility until spring it seems. Took two weeks to remove the snow windrows along Buttonwood Avenue, which leads to and from Weston Road and Jane Street. Low priority to remove the snow windrows at the transit stops. (Terry Fox stopped off at West Park during his run in 1980. Good thing it wasn't winter when he did.)

The "blizzard of 2022" shows why having heated (during snowfalls) platforms on the outdoor streetcar platforms, subways stations (IE. Rosedale, Davisville, etc.), and light rail surface stops is desirable. Even having the stations entrances heated during snow falls would be better than having to create snow windrows. If condos and office buildings can use heated driveways, what about the pedestrians and other transit users?

It seems interesting but slime pathways likely don't cost much. Looking at the diagram it seems like there are point to point connections between all the big destinations. You don't need slime to tell you the fastest route between two points is a direct route.

Tender out for a one bay expansion of Russell Carhouse (the streetcar barn on Queen St. East).

From the above:

Description

To accommodate the vehicle servicing requirements for the new Streetcar Fleet based at the Russell Streetcar Facility, TTC plans to construct a single track expansion of the Russell Carhouse facility located at 1401 Queen Street East. The expectation is to provide vehicle servicing needs for 6-monthly inspections, general running repairs (brake and motor replacements etc.), and periodic removal and replacement of all roof-mounted vehicle component modules, and bogies. The extension will provide for two (2) vehicle positions on a single track Westward extension of the Carhouse. The intent is to minimize the need for “deadheading” of the fleet stored at Russell Carhouse to the nearby Leslie Barns Streetcar Facility for maintenance, and to provide backup service capability to minimize fleet service disruptions.

"Deadheading"? Sounds like a very good excuse to convert the Hillcrest shops to a carbarn for the 512 ST. CLAIR streetcars, doesn't it? Could even put a few of the 511 BATHURST streetcars there as well.
