However, tapping at a GO Station (like Union) near the end of your 2-hour TTC window restarts the clock at 3 hours.
* do remember you must tap off at a different GO station to register the GO trip. Also this does increase your minimum fare to the GO base fare, which is higher than TTC, but only a little.

A lot of people tap when they see the inspector. Often the driver starts playing the announcement about video recording before they get on, giving people the chance to tap. Though I did see a guy get a ticket even after tapping when the inspectors got on. They saw him get off his seat to do it and nailed him. He tried to lie about just getting on, which didn't help his case. Then he said he was too busy on a zoom call and just forgot. The inspector told him just to focus on the call while he wrote up the ticket. Very funny, all around.
The kid made me ride the 505 from Broadview to Dufferin today. He thought it would be more exciting than a 15 minute direct subway ride. The 505 is definitely a very different experience than the 504.

St. Clair and Dundas West stations have McDonald’s within their fare-paid areas. Pape station has a Tim Hortons within its fare-paid area. Eglinton station has a Cinnabon within its fare-paid area.
Thus, the TTC has no right to get rid of messy eaters and drink spillers on the subway without being seen as hypocritical.

While I agree that public transit is not a suitable location for eating most food or clipping one's nails, I disagree with you (as is not uncommon) and would 'prefer' to sit on a finger-nail clipping rather than the remains of a Big Mac.

No, but I'd argue its worth tapping on for the sake of fare inspectors. If you tap onto a streetcar and you have 5m left, the fare inspector should see that, and will likely be more lenient when it shows that you haven't paid.
