Planner Description: The City has received a rezoning application from Stantec. The current zones are a Direct Development Control Zone (DC1.11229) and the Core Commercial Arts Zone (CCA), and the proposed zone is a Direct Control Zone (DC) which would allow for the development of an enclosed patio and vestibule on the east of the existing building. As part of this application, the uses, definitions and regulations of the current DC1.11229 are proposed to be updated to align with the standards of the current Zoning Bylaw 20001.

Please, please tell me the paint signs where not impacted?

The brick ghost signs on the east wall.

I was wondering what you were blathering on about. I agree with @Greenspace - use your vast connections with the city to find out and let us mere peasants know! ;) I'm just guessing, but I think the ghost signs will be retained and possibly updated.

I hope that the opening on the left of the ghost signs will also be retained.

If you read the DC1 bylaw there are provisions to ensure that some of the character defining elements are maintained and restored. Based on my experience working with heritage buildings you can be darn sure that the Heritage Planners will be pushing to have that ghost sign retained/enhanced.

The ghost sign is not being touched, do not worry. A new rooftop mechanical condenser room is being added and the entire roof is being rehabilitated as well. Interior renovations to the second and third floors of the original section will house new financnial office space. There will be some new paint on the exterior as well.
