On Friday night there was a similar two lane closure on one half of the Bay St underpass. I wonder if this was part of the same investigation.
They announced this and said it was because of work on or investigation of the Teamways but I assumed they were also going to be looking at the condition of the bridge above the road.

More span lift pictures.

I prefer @mburrrrr 's angle.
😊
@Allandale25 Michael Lindsay CEO back two posts. 700 foot crane?
Or a 700 ton crane lifting 135 ton bridge section?
30 people on the bridge for the photo op. (8 hours of DT?) while the crew of 5 behind the crane probably waiting to finish the work. Just saying. Oh, plus three on the tracks.

I wonder when the bike path will be completed through here (Sherbourne to Yonge)? When construction “finishes” on the tracks?
Cherry to Parliament to Sherbourne is pretty much ready, Yonge to Bay is done. Then go south on Bay to Harbour?? West on Harbour bike path to York, Simcoe, Rees, Spadina?

I thought they had already upgraded the rail bridge over Yonge..

Maybe they just want to install some more of those sleek metal bridges.

Yonge St inspections.

Hurry up before graffiti people and anti graffiti painters come back. It seems like a one week cycle.

Lots of bore holes in the center columns.

I recall they spent more time on repairs on the south end NB lane a few years ago and then seemed to hurry through the rest. Just my thoughts.

Yes, they did supposedly do a major repair of all of the Yonge bridge so it's a bit odd they are finding so much 'new' corrosion to deal with. Of course, in wet weather it has been clear that there are problems as it 'rains' quite hard in some locations inside the 'tunnel'.

Here,

it looks like they cut a length of the existing rebar out and replaced it with new rebar of similar size, with new sleeves to transfer load between old and new. Presumably they've taken the "coupon" away for destructive tensile strength testing.

This would help with estimating the load capacity of the existing structure.

The continuation of the Lower Don Trail on the north side of Lake Shore is, as far as I can see, no longer on the City's future bike trail plans. You are correct that the section between Cherry and Parliament is still there but in rather poor shape as it was 'destroyed' by the heavy equipment that Metrolinx were using to install the new fencing (and other contractors like Enbridge too). I reported it to 311 for repair (and to Metrolinx) but not sure anything will be done. The section between Parliament and Sherbourne is 'non-existent' but the work by Metrolinx has actually made it somewhat flatter so doing it is now fairly easy. There have been cycle lights to cross Lower Sherbourne for several years but they are bagged (in bags that are disintegrating). The section from Lower Sherbourne to lower Jarvis is 'sort of' reserved for a trail extension and a fenced dog park but I have never seen details nor a timeline. The section between Lower Jarvis and Yonge has, as far as I know, even been 'examined'.

Interesting. That makes sense why they installed The Esplanade bike lanes just to the north with no plan or timeline or final connection on the south side of the tracks.
