Like, Kristi Noem literally has a camera crew following her at all times (and a personal plastic surgeon featured in the show "Botched" as well?? ). She's basically just documenting everything for her inevitable trial at The Hague

I was talking about it with a black friend of mine in Toronto last night and I was saying that, what makes this so real is that we obviously all knew that ICE would be indiscriminately targeting any person of colour who gave them even half a reason. But now that they’ve shot a white “everywoman” mother in the face, shot to kill, unprovoked, could have just blown out her tires, they’ve now laid bare that they want a civil war, like that’s their goal. They see anyone who doesn’t agree with them not just as an enemy, but a terrorist who needs to die. It’s truly horrifying. I can’t tell you how lucky I feel, as a gay man, to be Canadian, cause we’re the next target down there.

He’s not doing it for gays, his base and would do just as bad or worse to gays if given the opportunity, and they’re working towards it. He’s doing it for the oil, pure and simple.

They could bring back the socially progressive Pahlavi Dynasty, but it would still take decades of incremental social reforms and education to even reduce the “crime” of homosexuality from a death sentence to life imprisonment, let alone neutral laws. I'm guessing everyone has seen the speeches from Carney and Trump. Talk about two contrasting speeches lol. I mean Trump sounded like 1) he was high on meth 2) he's a narcissist who's gone senile. Whatever the case, he looked like the stupidest politician on the planet.

We won't be. Vance is a bootlicker willing to sell out his family and beliefs for power. His own kids have to grow up in a country where their own dad is telling people to hate mixed-race people like them, that they're not "true blood Americans". Disgusting. Same with most Republicans.

Sadly there isn't much to hope for on the Republican side. Vance? Rubio? Cruz? The Dems really need to win the next election (if there is one), but even that probably won't stop the craziness. It depend who gets in. Shapiro, or Pritzker seem moderate enough that if elected could calm things down. Harris, AOC or Newsom, are too polarizing IMO. Even if they were to get elected, it would be another 4 years of turmoil.

For me the most concerning part is once the US elected Trump, especially for a second time the US had cooked themselves longterm. The cracks in the unity that have long existed are out in the open and for the foreseeable future the country is going to be one big tug of war.

The senate map is so skewed that it's hard to see the Democrats ever with unified control.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Senate also change to a democratic majority, albeit a slim one. I'm not expecting it, but it wouldn't shock me. My dream is to see the democrats take both houses. I'm very confident the house will be go to democrats, and if there's a chance of the senate as well that'd be great. Even with a senate majority they would still need 2/3rds of a vote to remove Trump, so I'm not holding my breath. However, politics is politics, and some republican senators might be concerned about Trump marginalizing congress. This would be a chance to get rid of him and send a message, and it would be a chance to get him out before he does too much damage.

At the very least, if the democrats control the house, at least they can vote against some of his bills. He he loses the supreme court battle on tariffs, he would have to do it through congress.
