Hi, I haven't had much luck coming up with any information on either of these places that I recently found old pictures of (circa 1976) in the city archives.

The Varsity was located next to the Scotiabank at the NE corner of Bloor and Spadina, where Pizza Pizza is now (which itself appears to have been in the current Fresh space back in '76). Apart from liquor license applications, classified ads for wait staff and a fleeting reference around 1970 to it having been a literary gathering spot, information seems to be scarce. How long was it in operation?

As for Olivetti Underwood, it was located at 8 Spadina Road, north of the westside subway entrance. When was it closed/demolished to make way for Annex Lane?

Thanks for any information!

8 Spadina Road was originally the McColl-Frontenac Oil offices, early 50s Parkin (it's in Patricia McHugh's guide)--I think it was about 10-15 years ago that it was demolished...
