I'm on train 69 right now and it's almost 1 h 30 min delayed. We were supposed to reach Toronto at 9:48 pm and current ETA is 11:23 pm. We were crawling at 49 km/h for a good chunk of the first hour or so.
any reason why? CN again?

Venture status report:

I've often heard a misconception about VIA's Venture fleet - that many of them are bad-ordered and that's what's holding up their wider implementation. Today, the final set arrived.

The first week of August, starting August 3, saw 22 of 30 in-use sets observed in Corridor service, based on 75 planned and/or observed Venture-equipped trains, with Sets 2, 9, 10, 14, 18, 20, 24, 25 and 26 reported on one trip only. Not observed were Sets 1, 2, 4, 7, 15, 19, 21 and 27, with Set 31 not yet in service and Set 32 mere days from being delivered.

I bet the corridor is very busy today given air Canada has stopped operations.
644 has one business class seat available. 40-38, 40-28, 64, 66, 68, 24, 26 today all sold out in economy. Evening flights will be cancelled soon so that will soak up the empty seats for later trains today. Buying tickets day-of will set one back $200+

Per groups.io, another 7 car trainset is planned: TS24 (2x23) and donations from TS25 (2724, 2924).
The second Ajoutay set is already together and has made at least one run to Quebec. More here:

So how they they fix the train with locked wheels? Did they tow it back to MMC?

Putting Ventures on the west routes actually makes sense because the Chatham sub is owned by VIA and has speeds of up to 100mph. The Dundas Sub is limited to 85mph so slowing down for crossings has less impact.

On the Kingston sub you need to slow down from 90 Mph to 55mph for crossings. Why not allocate more to the west? Am I missing something?

Some of the equipment for runs west of Toronto run through from Ottawa or Montreal.

It's a question of how to cycle the trainsets to run the most service at lowest cost. And the cycle needs to (mostly) deploy the same type of train on a specific train most or all days of the week.

I mean West of Toronto

Looks like there are low shunt issues on BNSF as well. Does nobody talk to each other before spending millions on new equipment?

I mean West of Toronto

So do I. Trains don't cycle back and forth between Toronto and Windsor.

Suppose (hypothetically) a typical cycle calls for a train to go Montreal to Toronto, and on to Windsor. Next day it goes Windsor to Ottawa and on to Montreal. Next day it goes Montreal to Toronto and return. Next day it goes Montreal to Toronto to Windsor. That's a four day cycle. It requires four trainsets. If you supply that cycle with two Venture trains and two non-Ventures, all the seating charts and reservation details get messy.
