Because of course there has to be a road named "Innovation Drive." Was there a law past that every city in Ontario must now have one?Figured now that prep work is expected to start soon and we have a confirmed 2025 thru 2028 construction timeline I figured this deserves its own thread.

That innovation drive has been there a long time haha, may have been one of the first.Because of course there has to be a road named "Innovation Drive." Was there a law past that every city in Ontario must now have one?
What services will stop at that commuter parking lot? The HSR shuttle to Aldershot?

As for transit, I would assume the Aldershot shuttle, the Hamilton Centre - Waterdown route, possibly Burlington transit, and a slight possibility of the "Dundas BRT from Sherway Gardens to Highway 6"
It just happens to be a good sell for high tech business parks.Because of course there has to be a road named "Innovation Drive." Was there a law past that every city in Ontario must now have one?
First photo is oriented such that 6 north is to the right. 6 will be free flowing, which does improve the current state.Am I interpreting this correctly? They are having one controlled intersection on each side of the crossing on 6? (6 crossing via bridge over 5? Or vice versa) If so, why?. Instead of one intersection, you now have two. What traffic congestion issue are we solving?

Diamond interchanges create long queue line for left turning traffic. You can expect a long line up from Highway 5 westbound onto Highway 6 southbound. It is also more dangerous as high amount of westbound left turning traffic completes with high speed through traffic on highway 5 eastbound. Why didn't they go with a diverging diamond along highway 5?
Doesn't that achieve the same thing with a smaller footprint?
I don't think anyone who's lived here as long or longer than I have even calls it that. Heck, I still call the Rogers Centre the Skydome. It just happens to be a good sell for high tech business parks.
“Brampton Innovation District” is the most foul use of the term in my opinion.
Ooof. You got me feeling old here. I remember when that was the case in the 1980's. The 403 simply ended at Wilson Street in Ancaster, which was also then Highway 2, with a basic traffic light signaled intersection.Having traffic stop and wait at an extended multi phase light at 5 after getting off the freeway was nuts. It currently feels like if there was a light on the 403 after you climb up the escarpment to Brantford.

Also my parents have told me about their time in Mississauga in the 1970's when they remember the 403 ending at Hurontario Street for many years in the same manner, until they finally decided to extend it further east and north to the 401.
I hadn`t actually realised that they closed the ski hill in Hamilton. Chedoke? But I haven`t skiied since the 2000s.The old person trump card I always play is to convince people Hamilton once had a ski hill when I moved here
Don't forget "Commerce", "Progress", "Technology", and "Enterprise" in the list of cringy business park street names.Because of course there has to be a road named "Innovation Drive." Was there a law past that every city in Ontario must now have one?
