They were probably were going for the transfer at Sheppard and building the line out. complete coverage.
No ... the article says it goes to Scarborough Town Centre. The map shows the end near the zoo. Clearly whoever did the artwork, and approved the article isn't familiar with Toronto geography.

They made a mistake. It happens. They probably meant to write Toronto Zoo.

I wish we could build a clone of MIT in Toronto (apologies to the Toronto-Boston Comparisons thread).

Think I posted one awhile back, but another thing which would be cool would be quad tracking the Yonge line and implementing an express service. If you look at our railway network, we don't really have any potential express services for our central corridor. I would have it stop at Union, Queen, Bloor, Eglinton, Sheppard, and Highway 7.

Um, is this doable?

Split the Yonge line at Summerhill Station run it under, say Avenue Rd. to connect with the University line at Museum. Disconnect the Spadina line from the University line. Yonge trains alternate from heading south on Yonge and Avenue rds, loop around the downtown continue back northwards and reconnect at Summerhill

This is my ideal Metrolinx / TTC map.

That can only happen with continuous fundings, building extensions in small increments. With the current "one-time funding" situation we have, it's not going to happen. For example, if we spend all the money into building a DRL, there'll be people saying why they are getting nothing on Finch West, Finch East, Eglinton to Pearson, etc.

Agreed. Other cities that buy TBMs for subway projects (TTC owns the machines for Spadina and Eglinton, not the contractors) continue to build tunnel on an ongoing basis and add stations over time, gradually extending the system through annual capital expenditures.

As it stands on Spadina and Eglinton, the tunnels are actually being bored through many of the station sites first, like the York University station, and almost all of the stations on Eglinton. After the tunnel has gone through, the excavation from the surface comes down, exposes the tunnel, at which point the tunnel is broken up and the station box is built.

The TTC owns 8 tunneling machines between Spadina (4) and Eglinton (4)....when those projects are done, they will have the option of keeping them or unloading them. Hopefully they'll make the right choice and put them to work on other projects.

1) High Speed Train from Toronto to Montreal (2 hours), Chicago (3 hours) and New York City (3 hours).
2) Subway on Queen st, College/Calton St and Spadina Ave (hopefully TTC is privatized or the Union is dismissed).
3) Queen's Quay, Bathust St and Jarvis St rezoned to major commercial street/boulevard.
4) Regent Park, Moss Park public housing bulldozed for redevelopment
5) First Canadian Place becomes only the 5th tallest office building in Toronto
6) Gardiner buried between Parliament and Bathust; entire central waterfront south of rail tracks become a huge urban park between Bathurst and Bay
7) Air Canada split into 4 competing airlines
8) Scarbrough, North York and Etobicoke separate from Toronto and become their own city again, yet the City's population rises to 3 million.
