Are there any building shapes or types that consistently offer good floor plans?

Why do new buildings have such deep units with rear, dank dens?

Perhaps skinny buildings would help. The units would be more apt to have nice window coverage in each room (see: Crystal Blu). Why don't builders build more E shape buildings with skinny wings and small courtyards? Or is this simply out of style?

Any thoughts or ideas?

as much as people here seem to distain the box, from my observations it's actually the best shape for good floorplans.

point towers in the form of squares (or rectangular shapes) no larger than 90' x 90' will provide 1B units of 20' x 30', and 2B units of approx. 30' x 30' templates without the long wasted hallways.

wide and shallow suites are the holy grail for floorplans since it provides alot of windows for natural light ... think of typical 60s/70s slab towers around dt, but that's rarely going to happen now b/c of the amount of land required vs. the point towers; plus there's more wasted common area hallways.
