It depends female leaders dont fare well in Canadian politics
The same might have been said of any number of places, until it changed.
Merkel was a paradigm shift in Germany.
The development of women at the the highest levels of politics is comparatively recent in most of the world.
Even when one finds isolated examples from earlier, Golda Meir in Israel, Indira Ghandi in India and Thatcher in the U.K. they were all surrounded by men in their own administrations.
Times are changing; as well they should be.
There are still only 4 developed countries of which I am aware that have gender-equal cabinets, Canada, Sweden, Spain, and France.
(there are 6 others world wide, including Columbia...)
Its worth saying that Christy Clark in BC won re-election as Premier, so Wynne for that matter.
Several other women have won high office without achieving re-election, its true; but its not like plenty of men didn't manage the same.
Canada will catch up sooner than later.
