No supermarket was ever planning to open there. The owner simply posted a sign "supermarket coming soon" in anticipation that a grocery store would fill the Zellers space soon, and to attract new retailers in the other vacant spaces in the mall.
the owner should not do that.

The floor tiles are the only standout part in the mall

Why did they expand the food court? Being a franchise, Osmows could be considered a step up for the Woodbine.

For nostalgic reasons, I think a lot of us want to see the Woodbine rise from the ashes. But, I think the Woodbine would need to change owners first and foremost.
That way, big box chains might begin to put their trust in the Woodbine again. Instead of the current owner being linked to bad publicity like this:

No they're not - they're totally randomly placed.

Are you obsessed with this crappy mall?
This mall has potential.

The owner needs to do his job, or ship out!

I even emailed the owner, and I got no response.

realistically the mall will most likely close and be demolished.

-The owner is clearly incompetent.
-Casino Woodbine and the planned Costco/ plaza at Islington and Rexdale blvd will out-compete the mall at attracting new retail.
-Albion mall will mostly outcompete woodbine in the near future due to the finch west lrt (I wouldn't be surprised if the empty lots are developed into condos
-plus the pandemic means even the regular shoppers of woodbine will avoid it in the mall in the near future. i doubt the mall has the money to survive the pandemic

The mall was already on life support but all of these factors mean the mall is doomed.
the mall most likely will eventually close down and be demolished and redeveloped into residential similar to
warden woods mall. to those who remember.

I am going to miss the theatre when this occurs as Rexdale would lose their only movie theatre.

Where did you hear about them opening a costco on Rexdale/Islington ?? also with costco u get cheap gas station

While Imagine Cinemas may fold with the Woodbine, I'm sure the abundance of pirated movie kiosks will keep popping up at Dr. Flea's.
Which, on an unrelated note, has just re-opened their doors since shutting down back in March.
