The bottom of the former Sears is being cleared out slowly.

This is just fantasy and just for fun.

If Woodbine Mall was to be redeveloped and not torn down, these are changes that should be made.

1. Internal road layout updated as the following.

2. Redevelop these underused sections of the parking lots into family-friendly condos.

3. Emphasize the grand entrance into the mall by redeveloping a section front parking lot into a plaza/park with a fountain. skating rink, skate park, and art.

4. Remaining Parking spaces can be converted into parking garages.

With an increase in population around the mall, making the entrance into the mall more pedestrian-friendly, and parking garages around anchor stores I'd think the mall could find some success.

@FW36, I don't think keeping the existing mall is the best use of this site long term. What everywhere in Canada needs now is more family sized (3 bedroom+) housing aimed at lower income Canadians. What I think is appropriate for this site is a bunch of 6 storey buildings with neighbourhood retail on the ground floor, "office space" on the 2nd for professional services including beauty, healthcare and childcare, then residential on the 3rd floor and above accompanied by parcades.

Great article. The store list from 1992 demonstrates just how much the Woodbine has fallen over the years.

That explains why all the trailers are back around the former Sears parking lot (after being told by the city to be removed months ago).
Finally clearing out inventory.

We'll know the credits are about to roll when Hudson Bay starts clearing out their lower level.

Design-wise, there's nothing to improve upon from a mall's perspective. Like Shon's article mentioned, the for sale sign is not advertising a shopping mall
being listed on the market, but a mixed lot for redevelopment. With the creation of the new strip plaza overtaking the old Sears outlet on Rexdale and
Islington, Rexdale has more than enough shopping destinations for the area.
