World's tallest buildings 2020. To compare, Canada's tallest building is 298m.

The Kingdom Tower will never be built. We simply can't build a building that is a Kilometre tall.

The Kingdom Tower IS under construction as we speak. It will be less than a kilometer tall so that it can be built.

When completed, it will still eclipse & beat every tall building on the planet, including the Burj Kafila Tower. ;)

Here's a newer artist's rending of the building.

It was made shorter so that it can be successfully built, but it will still be the tallest-ever man-made structure in the world.

Garrett Kelleher, Irish developer of the bankrupted Chicago Spire, is expressing confidence that he can pay off his creditors and jumpstart the project again. Kelleher is reportedly in talks with investors to secure funding for the 2,000-foot (610-meter) condominium tower.

"Garrett Kelleher is very committed to the Chicago Spire," his lawyer, Thomas Murphy, told Chicago Real Estate Daily. "We're coming out of the perfect storm, and Garrett thinks this is the perfect product."

If completed, the spire would earn the title of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. That title, which is currently still held by the Willis Tower in Chicago, will soon be awarded to the One World Trade Center in New York, upon its completion, as decided by the CTBUH earlier this week.

New York & Chicago, for years, as always been running neck & neck.

The Willis Tower had trounced over the Twins, then Kuala Lumpur had trounced over the Willis Tower with the Petronas Twin Towers.

It'll be interesting to see if Chicago can get back in the thick of it again! ;)
