A couple of UT and SSP forumers, myself included, spent this past weekend in Motown. We wanted to spend a weekend at the legendary, once-abandoned, newly-renovated Westin Book Cadillac Hotel.

The building's exterior and interior are two different worlds. The exterior of the Book Cadillac has been thoroughly cleaned. The copper on the roof has been re-done, and at night the building looks spectacular with exterior lighting at street level and on the roof.
View from the People Mover at night.
The interior, however, is completely different. All the public areas and rooms have been redone in a modernist style. Only spaces such as the ballroom, Motor Bar and the Italian Garden have been restored to look somewhat like the original.
Washington Blvd Entrance Foyer
Second Floor Lobby
Second Floor Motor Bar
Pool
Italian Garden
Here's our room on the 17th Floor, with a view to the west. The room is very spacious, the result of mashing two former hotel rooms into one.
Views from the room...
Looking northeast from the 17th floor elevator lobby
The hotel's signature restaurant, ROAST, is pretty good. Here's what we ate there...
Sorry for the overexposure... that's whitefish.
