For all you transit buffs, the Bloor-University Y will be open this Victoria Day weekend as the TTC routes all BD trains through it to Museum Stn. Passengers will get a chance to see the lower platform of Bay Stn., which the TTC closed in 1966.
By routing trains off the BD section of the Y, repair crews will be able to work uninterrupted over the entire long weekend on the crossover east of the lower platform of St. Geroge Stn. This crossover was originally installed so that a direct-to-downtown (Bloor-University-Yonge) service from the west could be operated for every train all day while east-west-BD-only trains would run from St. George to Woodbine. It was never tested in 1966 and the crossover itself has only been used for emergency turnbacks.
