As part of the Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion Program, changes will be made between 97 Street and 82 Street, including the removal of the traffic signal at 89 Street.
Edmontonians are invited to share feedback on the recommended design for Yellowhead Trail from 82 Street to 97 Street, and to let us know what information is important to them during construction.
Date: Tuesday, October 16
Time: 3 - 7 p.m. (drop-in)
Location: Delton Community League, Main Hall, 12325 88 Street NW
Once it’s converted into a freeway, Yellowhead Trail will have six free-flowing lanes with no traffic lights and two new interchanges. The conversion will improve traffic flow as traffic volumes continue to grow and will improve safety at several high-collision locations.

Please, please, Edmonton -- do not cheap out on this -- this is the alternate route to Trans Canada and needs to show our City in respect of quality, endurance, sustainability, and aesthetics.

I'm excited for the conversion to a freeway but i'm also concerned about the acceptability to travel onto 149th and 142nd.

It's too bad with the closure of 89 Street, that they didn't take the opportunity to add a pedestrian/cyclist connection between Delton and Killarney.

So the recommended concept plan for 66th Street is now posted online.
Looks like they're going with a partial interchange with access to Yellowhead Eastbound only from both north and south traffic. Westbound access can be had from the new 125 Ave / 61 Street connector, I think this is a good option.

I left feedback that there should be a MUP/SUP along the east side as well as the west side of 66 Street. Forcing people not in cars to cross 66 Street twice to stay on the east side is ridiculous, especially when they have a ton of room to add one.
