Interesting to see how much the city has grown in 50 plus years. I guess this explains the east side of Yonge north of Alexander where the strip of retail looks like it was all built at the same time. It was all built at the same time after the subway work was done. .
 
I wonder about the logistics of building on that block. Did the city buy the block, build the subway under and then sell the land? Or does it still own it?
 
If you look at the area north from Wellesley to Bloor, there is a series of parks that run parallel to Yonge just east of Yonge Street... narrow and the width of what might lie below.
