So how will the train reverse direction without a cab car?

That's your cab car.

The other end. Or are they just shortening the consist?
They'd just split it and attach another loco onto the six pack on the left. Only thing is though, is that you still require a clean and trip-ready 5A car on both six packs.

No they aren’t making 2 trains out of it, they’re disconnecting 7-10/12 and leaving them behind, only operating the 6 car train that’s left. Over the weekends Georgetown Yard has two sets of 4 cars remaining from two 10 car trains that operate on weekdays, while the two Kitchener consists that operate on Saturday and Sunday rhn as 6 car trains:

I have thus far only seen this procedure in use on the Kitchener Line. Wonder whether the refurbished cab cars might be used this way?
I assume so, the currently operating cabs are getting the new door that allows the cab to be placed in the middle of the train, so I assume the rebuilt cabs will too

Here is a way to potentially refine the split procedure.

There could a doubleheaded 12 car train (once the supposed issues involving doubleheaders and the concrete at Union is fixed), and a secondary CSA car as the 1st coach behind the cab car. That way, once the consist splits, its able to make two 6 car consists with the additional locomotive, instead of just leaving the detached coaches at a layover yard.

Where are you gonna get those additional locomotives?

This sounds needlessly complicated over the current procedure of simply splitting the train, which by the way can’t be that simple as crews are apparently allotted 1.5 hours to complete the procedure.

Beyond this, what would be the benefit of dragging a second locomotive to Georgetown?

Also, how come there are still Series VII cars in active service? I thought they were meant to be sent off to refurbishment at Alstom's Thunder Bay plant.

Infact many are now repainted into the two tone MX scheme, yet still have not been refurbished.

Forgot to mention, saw this interesting arrangement at the Whitby Maintenance Facility yesterday. Two seemingly deactivated older cab cars (judging by the lack of mirrors, wipers, and a bell), in front of 3 newer cab cars each.
