My suggestions:
St. Albert Trail and Groat Road are separated by the 118 Ave "traffic circle", however this requires the proper roundabout signage along with the removal of traffic lights.
The Groat Road/87 Ave intersection should be converted from a quasi-roundabout to a full roundabout c/w proper signage.
St. Albert Road -> Mark Messier Trail -> St Albert Trail needs to be renamed to Mark Messier Trail.
97 Ave -> 98 Ave -> Terrace Road -> 101 Ave needs to renamed to Baseline Road all the way to 109 St near the Legislature. 109 St and 97 Ave have the large directional signs so I'll give them that.
104 Ave -> 103A Ave needs to be renamed to Stony Plain Road all the way to Jasper Ave.
111 Ave -> 112 Ave should be renamed to Coronation Boulevard in honor of Coronation Park.
107 Ave -> 107A Ave -> Stadium Road -> 86 St should be renamed to Brick Road or The Brick Road in honor of the first Brick Warehouse store at 101 St/107 Ave,
If you wanted to do names, for most central roads you could just use some of the historical names for the road too. 111/112 Avenue would be Norwood Boulevard. 107 Avenue (I think) is Short Avenue. Alberta Avenue for 118 Ave, etc etc.

I like your ideas for Alberta Ave and Norwood Blvd, however I don't like Short Ave.

Now that he hangs at Maro Lago, is it time for a re-name?
Pierre Trudeau was friends with Fidel Casto - so should Montreal re-name their airport?

According to Amnesty International advocacy group’s Americas director, Erika Guevara-Rosas, when discussing the legacy of Fidel Castro after his death: "Over more than five decades documenting the state of human rights in Cuba, Amnesty has recorded a relentless campaign against those who dare to speak out against the Cuban government’s policies and practices. Authorities jailed hundreds of prisoners of conscience solely for peacefully exercising their right to freedom of expression, association and assembly in a campaign of “ruthless suppression”, she said. “The state of freedom of expression in Cuba, where activists continue to face arrest and harassment for speaking out against the government, is Fidel Castro’s darkest legacy. Thousands were jailed in abysmal prisons, thousands more were harassed and intimidated and that entire generations were denied political freedoms."

Can we just rename the entire monstrosity that is 66th st, 75th Street, Gretzky Drive, Fort Road, Manning Drive? One name for the entire road would be so much better. Call it McDavid way for all I care, but driving the major NS corridor on the east side of the city should not come with 5 names!

McDavid already has a major route named after him:

Connors Road

Edmonton sports writer Terry "Large" Jones tweeted yesterday that Wayne Gretzky needs to explain his relationship with Trump to the Canadian people. After all #99 has done for Edmonton and Canada this is how he is treated by Mr. Jones, who wrote several books about 99. TDS is off the rails - does Jones think all Canadians now should provide a friendship list to the government for vetting? If Wayne G was friends with Biden or Obama is that okay, but being friends with Trump is not? Jones completely embarrassed himself and got heavily ratio'd and took his post off of X. What is wrong with people? Why do people on this forum think we should re-name Gretzky Drive because of who he chooses to be friends with? Complete TDS insanity.

You sarn tootin’! With his love for the Yanks and Trump……”he can piss off back to where he came from.”
Cancel culture out in full force - let's cancel Tesla, cancel Wayne Gretzky, cancel American culture, cancel cancel cancel. Its unbelievable how badly Wayne Gretzky is being treated for simply being friends with someone. Unbelievable. He has done so much for this city, for hockey and for Canada. By all accounts is a generous and caring person. Does he need to submit a list of who he chooses to be friends with and have it vetted by people like you MacLac? You just said #99 "can piss off back to where he came from." Unbelievable. Several years ago I read a biography about the musical genius, but troubled, jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. Joni Mitchell was very good friends with him, which surprised me because Davis was a misogynist wife beating heroin addict for much of his life. Does this mean we should all cancel Joni Mitchell? And, should I even be allowed to read books about jazz musicians since jazz is an American art form? Not surprising coming from you though MacLac - you seem like the cancel culture type - especially if it goes against something you believe in. But of course I'm sure you are a highly "educated" progressive urbanite - not a hillbilly ignorant rural person - you know the type of people that gets laughed at on this forum by people like you.

No matter your point of view, this does show the risks of naming streets (among other infrastructure) after living people.

In that case, let us rename the entire stretch (from Manning Drive in the NE to 66 St in the south) as Capilano Drive, reverting back to an earlier name.
St Albert Trail needs to be reverted back to what it was before, although Mark Messier Trail can be enclosed in brackets.

In any case, sticking to just one name for an entire stretch of a thoroughfare would be most beneficial, especially for first-time visitors and for tourism.

Not necessarily commenting on whether Wayne Gretzky Drive should change, but having him as Canada's honorary captain at the 4 Nations Final was a massive mistake.

Many Canadians, me included see him as a traitor, now that he's openly supporting and hanging out with a politician who doesn't respect the sovereignty of the country that made him who he is.

They should have gotten someone like Carey Price, or Hayley Wickenheiser with the context of the game and situation in mind.
