That bulletin is very concerning - it does clearly require buffer cars on the "front AND rear" of the LRC sets. Apparently the LRCs are so fragile that they can't even be placed alone behind a locomotive! There also doesn't seem to be any loophole that would allow in-service HEP coaches to be used as buffers (e.g. P42-HEP-LRC-LRC-HEP).

Hopefully with the warmer weather they're able to get more of the Venture sets in service so the restrictions on LRCs are less consequential. Nice to see in your post that the J-trains are back to running Venture sets. Hopefully that's a sign they've resolved the reliability issues they were having with the Siemens J-trains.

This is going to increase the wear and tear on the equipment not to mention put a strain on equipment cycling.

I'm surprised that CAD is actually trying to repair them considering they only have 7 months left until they need to be retired.

Has anyone seen the F40 prototype?
I hope this isn't the work that they found to be too expensive three or four years ago.

Not sure how it increases wear and tear, at least on the buffer cars that were already sidelined. Equipment cycling is the same as before - the buffers stay with the set.

We THINK the LRC's only have seven months left....maybe there will be a life extension. It seems odd that a car at a time gets done, the last one finished just weeks before retirement?

Transport Canada mandates that they be retired at the end of 2026...they would need an extension.

Also the P42's are also to be retired once the F40 rebuild is complete.

There can still be equipment issues causing occasional Cab Car Lead Ventures. The vast majority have very noticeably returned to Venture Loco Lead toward Montreal.
 
I am getting disappointed with the Ventures. Their reliability sucks. And it really sucks they haven't been able to fully take over Corridor services.

I don't travel as much personally these days. But I'm a huge advocate for VIA at work. It's kinda hard to do that when the service is becoming less reliable.

The bad news on top of that bad news...will VIA's wish for an injunction against CN be resolved in the Quebec Superior Court?
"No date for the hearing on the merits has been fixed at this time. The parties are still in the process of completing their respective files, and everything should be ready for trial by September. Once this step is completed, the hearing on the merits will be set for a date in 2027 or 2028, subject to the Court’s availability."
