What to do after 2014

Toronto will be ready for a Harm Reduction program by then.

"Harm reduction is a range of policies designed to reduce the harmful consequences associated with various, sometimes illegal, human behaviors."

I'm sure Ford is stupid enough to be involved, but all indications are that he was not at all involved. This is just a fantasy for the ant-Ford camp. Smith was murdered because he was a drug dealer / gun trader / thug who made the wrong enemies.

If it were truly just some random gang issue, why was his phone taken at all, and not his cash also?

No one can be certain about the Smith situation at all, but If true, how sad that he was murdered for a digital recording that there could be - probably was - copies of.

The other interesting thing to me was Price's role in going to the police with Twohey. Price knows the Fords better than anyone, and he found plausibility in the phone tip that was reveived about Smith. Also, he called the shooting near the crack video apartment "sobering" (from Decemeber Star article) - why?

Perhaps, if/when things get better, the public will be ready for something like SARS-Stock back in 2003.

The suggestion that Lisi's charges are to be upgraded to 'conspiracy' of some sort obviously implies one or more other parties. So that's pretty interesting. And not just because of 'other parties' (whoever they might be). If the upgraded charges are of a serious nature, the likelihood of serious time might cause some serious reflection on Lisi's part. Especially given that list JimmiT offered up of nice things his acquaintances have to say about him. It would seem that if a fellow held in such esteem by those who know him were to be incarcerated, that could lead to a scenario that makes the Scott MacYntyre thing look like a 'church picnic', to use a popular term. Sandro appears to have skated in the past with relative ease, but perhaps his blades may not be as sharp these days. It makes one wonder if he's switched to singing.

But, as Rob so clearly pointed out, HE doesn't throw his friends under the bus, he would expect the same of said friends. You know, since loyalty can't be taught.

A note on Mark Towhey: I've come to the conclusion that Towhey is clever, moderately charming, occasionally quite funny and certainly a good strategist; however, I also think he is a terrible human being whose righteous conduct (i.e. going to the police about the video and the surrounding events/threats etc.) is motivated less by a desire to do the right thing, and far more by a desire to ensure that the good ship Towhey doesn't take on more water than the captain can bail out.

So, yep: despite having some redeeming features, Towhey is an mercenary, vain and cynical man who took - and takes! - great pride in having helepd propel Ford into the mayor's office. He has always been too coy by half on the subject of what he knew about Ford and when, especially Ford's serial drink-driving; anyone questioning him on that last one is likely to get a response that is long on diversionary unpleasantness and short on facts.

Price knows the Fords better than anyone, and he found plausibility in the phone tip that was reveived about Smith. Also, he called the shooting near the crack video apartment "sobering" (from Decemeber Star article) - why?

I'd forgotten that Price said that. What does it take to sober a member of Team Ford, after all?

Both Ford and Price said a few things when the video was first reported. Price definitely tied the video to Anthony Smith. Police were dismissive but not really committal. Ford said himself (I can`t find it due to my lack of subscriptions) that there were "people in bigger trouble than him".

I'm not sure what the conspiracy charges would be for. Could be for 15 Windsor pipe attack.
I understand that going after the paranoid Mayor, from a paranoid family, that inexplicably still has a segment of support, would warrant the heaviest hitters in the police forces to get him. But these are homicide guys. It's a little too much like Capone was with all the bribery. Add the huge amount of time and money, the overlooking of obvious criminal code and public safety issues. Bedbug Lisi! They HAVE to be after him and perhaps Dougie and Randy for something big.

If it isn't, a lot of heads are on the block and it seems to me that these career boys in the Po-Po and Crown office have better self preservation skills.

We seem to cycle through lots of different topics in this thread. So many topics, in fact, that it's sometimes hard to believe that they all lead back to one man and that he is our top elected official.

Here's a list I just wrote in about 3 minutes off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more.

In no particular order:
  • Drugs, drugs & more drugs
  • Prison beatings
  • Violent gangs / drug dealing / gun-runners
  • Corruption (GFL? Ferris wheel/megamall?)
  • Organised crime (see previous point?)
  • Conspiracy to commit extortion
  • Impaired driving (witnesses & a first-party confession!)
  • Breaches of electoral law
  • (Underage?) escorts
  • Violent home invasion
  • Crack houses (with hydro bills all paid up)
  • Massive police operations
  • Domestic assault / threats against women
  • Openly taunting the Chief of Pollice: "Arrest me!" / "C*cksucker"
  • Homophobia
  • Racism
  • Transphobia
  • Cross-addiction with regular severe relapses
  • Sexual assault
  • Public urination
  • Littering and... littering and... littering and smoking the reefer.
  • ...and of course: infinite lies & BS
I'm sure I missed some stuff.
