It doesn't matter, in that any objections from the planning department will be decided on by council and even if the majority of councillors oppose the plans, mayor Tory with his new "strong mayor" powers, (powers given to him by Ford) will use those powers to override any council opposition.The...

I just had a look at the Therme rendering. Something tells me that their planned beach isn't going to have free public access. I can only hope this project is added to the Unbuilt Toronto book series.

If the Government's plans for Ontario Place do get built, what will they do once Therme's Spa fails to be a commercial success? I don't think it will last more than a decade. Then what? A public park and upgrade to what is already there, will last a century.

True, but at some point there will be change. One thing that is needed in the area is parkland and parks rarely change. A park similar to Humber Bay, Colonel S. Smith and Bluffer's Park with refurbished sphere & pods, would far better serve the public than the current proposal.

Therme's spa and Ecorecero's adventure park will have to continue to reinvent themselves to stay viable. There will come a time when their novelty will wear off, and both will see a decline in attendance. It happens to every venue of this type. It happened to the original Ontario Place, CN...

Were the specs for this building re-cladding done by the contractors that spec mini mansions infills in the suburbs? Where homes are clad in 3-5 different materials, that have little to do with good design and everything to do with costs and bad taste. Unfortunately, most people probably don't...

Shadow impact on Coleman Park are likely to significantly reduce the height of these towers.

I can see expanding the Budwisers venue for years round us being successful long term. The outdoor playground will have to reinvent itself every few years to stay profitable. I don't see this kind of spa complex working here. My guess it would fail to turn a profit and go under within a decade...

Tory can't screw it up becuase the city isn't involved in the project. Ford on the other hand, tends to screw up everything, so I'm not hopeful that we'll be getting anything spectacular.

Good points. Exsisting outdoor spaces are nearby. The Meadoway is a five minute walk away and provides kilometres of walking and cycling trails (any bicycle spaces in the revised plan?) It's the year round indoor public space that is lacking. Maybe the plot of land, along Pharmacy, that...

You can still provide housing for 6000 people and also give them places within their development to gather. Artscape in the Regent Park redevelopment is a perfect example. The Golden Mile isn't downtown, so I guess planners and developers figure it's not worthy of building actual communities in...

    Toronto Toronto | 1 Eglinton Square | 158.8m | 46s | KingSett Capital | BDP Quadrangle

Eglinton Square is pretty run down in comparison to other malls, but it is a hub for local residents. The food court is a year round, daily meeting place for 100's. The mall is also open before shopping hours for senior walks and community gathering. I don't see anything in the revised plan that...

What the skyline looks like depends on your point-of-view and there are millions of POV. Why would planners be concerned about how the skyline looks?

Oxford has a number of significant proposals on the boards. Including the Hub, Union park, Scarborough Town centre and now this one. I understand that projects of this size can take years to be realized, but has Oxford built anything other than Richmond/ Adelaide Centre in Toronto in the last 20...
