RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

Depending on how it's done I'm not a fan of lane narrowing. They did it on a street I'm on often and it lead to cars just crossing the line, and snow/rain events make it effectively a 1 lane road.

IMO it's the opposite, people speed MORE when they realize going 20 over might mean the difference between 5 red lights in a row vs 0. Same as when they lowered speed limits without re-timing lights, you went from cars going 5 to 10 with a small delta between cars to half aggressively speeding...

Any idea what these pole mounted devices are?

Thanks! Do you know any other area that has them? I saw there was one that was taken down around 2010, weird it wasn't replaced. Hence why I assumed it was a nortel thing

Any idea what these pole mounted devices are?

I noticed them around the former Nortel HQ. They were there in the 2007 streetview map data so it's very unlikely to be cellular imo! Google says it's Norris Glen rd but it's actually paxman road. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kDKzVwRTNMrQCkKSA https://maps.app.goo.gl/kjGU7RxzKwgQfZtm9

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

If anybody thinks transportation services are pro car, they can’t even get the damn one lane roads to have traffic lights and sync like every other civilized city! It’s crazy driving on Adelaide or Richmond will just lead to a bunch of red lights!

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

The all red phase was something like 3 seconds? Now it's 5-6 seconds in many areas (AFTER the advanced left signal turns red) this has actually caused MORE cars to turn left through the red since they know the oncoming traffic doesn't have a green yet! I agree with you on that stretch of...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

Cross posting from another thread. I don't have a background in urban planning but every friggin change the city implements seems to make things worse! Lowering speed limits from 60 to 40 on the Queensway mean drivers are MORE aggressive since you now have a greater "mix" of speeds travelled...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Weird there is no live tracking like 2 months after it opened. Also this might be why there are so few fountains in stations?

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Can we not use insulting terms? It adds to the whole us vs them divide that has caused logic to go out the window, and prevents genuine improvements!

    miWay Transit

Listen to the noise I’m not talking about the dirt on the ground, which happens everywhere! The whole time the engine was running, It sounded like there’s a jackhammer in the back with me.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Their definition of low income is MAXIMUM $28k, who tf can afford a car insurance etc with that? And they gave you a whopping 6 trips a month. My FREE ez pass transponder a wayyyyy higher quality than the $30 a year leased service the 407 rents to me. And garbage fees? A $20ish dollar...
