The city of angels?

looks to me like this is just a normal glass box with *one* interesting feature, being the balconys. The angle they give us with the render makes it seem much more outstanding then it will be. Something tells me this will look sort of like Neo, but with weird balconys on the side...

Or better yet, make parts of yonge a pedestrian mall (as i've seen mentioned before) YD square would make a nice "entrance", expanding the square across the road to the eatons centre, making the square larger, and eliminating the traffic barrier from one side of the street to the other...

Thats exactly how I feel. Better yet, Ritz will be peaking out from behind RBC, giving the illusion that the "core" doesnt end at RBC (it creates a wall effect), but instead it creates a sense of depth: the core continues further west. 300 front west will also play its part on this effect...

Perhaps, but I think one major thing that makes this feel "un-urban" is the lack of tall buildings around it. If there was a 10 story building adjacent to the sony centre instead of that (2 or 3?) story concrete building, it would feel like the sony centre is cradle'd and sitting in an urban...

Look closer at the top of the podium - the glass hangs over the edge on one render, but not on the other. Plus it seems to be on an angle in one, but parallel to the street on the other. The rendertrees looks different, and on the roof theres some sort of cylinder.

I agree, it wouldn so great here, however I liked the effect it has on Spire.

Earlier on it was announced that ritz would be using clear, colourless glass. Either I am way behind and not up to date with my facts, or some people have forgotten this. The clear glass worries me, but we just have to wait and see what we get.

When we inevitably get tired of this style, it's buildings like these that will haunt us forever.

yeah, if only instead of the gardiner there was a nice grand "University ave" style boulevard, then a park would be perfect for that area. ...wait:rolleyes:

I wouldn't consider the buildings in St. Jamestown to be beautiful if standing alone... And if not glass and steel, then stone or brick. (What is Scotia Tower made out of? exactly). Or why not get more creative with the glass and steel? Look at the Royal Bank Plaza... stunning! There...

I love how Toronto has the look of skyscrapers poking out of a forest. Great pics!

Doesn't exactly show what the materials will be... but this maybe just maybe could turn into some nice infill. On the other hand it could be a disaster! We shall see...:rolleyes:

I think people in that building will spend more time staring at their massive flat screen tv's then staring out their window. :rolleyes: Having neighboring towers enclose your building might be a comforting feeling anyways... whatever floats your boat!

great shots all of you! I like the unique touch-ups, redroom. Drum, your second last pic with the workers makes me very anxious to see how the ground floor glass will look, especially once the trees are put in. very nice pics!

Those houses look PUNY in that last shot:eek: I think this project will turn out to be better then expected. Right now it seems to be in the shadows of 1bloor, trump, BA, etc, but I predict we'll be pleasantly suprised by this one.
