    Misc. Infrastructure Projects

That is literally the most pathetic thing I’ve seen in a while. You don’t need Jasper Ave sized roads in DUNLUCE FFS. Why are these NIMBY’s absolute morons? Like I NEED to know what they’re on. Narrower roads aren’t going to kill you. No one’s using the sidewalks because they fucking suck...

    Edmonton | Manulife Place Renovations | 145.99m | 36s | AIMCo | MdeAS

Honestly these are all reasonable concerns, but I think the fact that they stated publicly they're keeping operational presence here should alleviate some worries. We gotta have some confidence that things here will stick. Edmonton's a big enough metropolis now. EDIT: That or magic scenario...

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

It's still far below 2019. I'll take the positive spin though because as dumb as it sounds, hearing those percentages probably would convince people that more people are taking it, making it safer for them to take it, and creates a feedback loop. Consecutive growth is good though! As long as it...

    Edmonton | Manulife Place Renovations | 145.99m | 36s | AIMCo | MdeAS

From what I'm seeing, reading and understanding, there's not going to be a move of the HQ anytime soon. CWB's asset growth has been middling and stagnant over the last two years, and it seems like National Bank is going to be using CWB as their vehicle for growth in Anglo Western Canada since...

    Edmonton Companies News & Discussion

Yup. It is extremely good for shareholders and kinda hitting myself on the head for not investing in them some more.

    LRT Safety

https://pub-edmonton.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=224820 Interesting lil presentation to Council on transit/downtown safety. Perception of safety needs heavy work, but it seems like we're in the right direction at least. At least we get numbers on total ridership by month though!

    Edmonton | Manulife Place Renovations | 145.99m | 36s | AIMCo | MdeAS

https://www.cwb.com/en/news/2024/national-bank-to-accelerate-domestic-growth-with-the-acquisition-of-canadian-western-bank "The united bank’s growth objectives in the region will be supported by executive and operational leaders based out of Edmonton, Alberta" Seems like they're staying...

Yeah! City Council Agendas are such an underrated and less known resource to find out about these things.

    LRT Expansion Planning

Probably downtown. Downtown rail line would probably be a tourism/business/conference focus while an LRT line would have a good chunk of commuting, considering EIA weirdly has a lot of employment around it. But yeah the 747 NEEDS to be beefed up soon. I’d honestly love if Cartmell had BRT...

    Capital Line LRT

As someone who used the Heritage Valley P&R, for a few months, it was actually nice but was prone to being stuck in traffic. Especially when 111 St south of 23 Ave was under construction for a bit. Overall a great service but the psychological difference between “train vs bus” is genuinely big...

    Capital Line LRT

Yeah I gotta disagree with the idea that ridership won't increase too much with this extension. The amount of future U of A/downtown post secondary students that would be served by this is going to be immense and having a properly done transit hub rather than the cramped nature of Century Park...

    LRT Expansion Planning

The Twin Brooks extension is definitely something that I think should've been delayed for grade separation. The only reason I can think of is if they wanted to densify Twin Brooks and turn it into a TOD.
  13. K

    LRT Expansion Planning

Exactly! Dream scenario would be to have both a rail and LRT connection to the airport.

    LRT Expansion Planning

Cartmell and BRT, a tale as old as time. Mentioning this line as redundant and questioning the demand of this is slightly ridiculous. Century Park wasn't built as a terminus and it shows. Ridership from the south side of the city will continue to increase no matter what happens based on sheer...

    LRT Safety

Oh the Urbanity posted a video about transit ridership in the 12 largest metro systems on the continent. Putting it into perspective, Edmonton being at 75% of pre-pandemic ridership is pretty on par with other transit systems in Canada (bar Calgary).

    Edmonton | ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

What better way to snub those filthy Torontonians than taking the title of tallest building in Canada from them. Actually wait hold on, someone tell Danielle Smith, we can actually get funding for this lol

    Edmonton | ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

Burj Edmontonlifa lol Weirdly enough, I'm sort of optimistic that they do get government funding of sorts to Phase 2. $330 million or equivalent is a significant amount of money, and I'd be curious what the province, OEG and the city agree on.

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

Yeah which is why I got confused by that statement. Unless we missed something or they know something else we don't (which I sorta doubt)
