    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Yeah, don't know the technicality of this, but I do believe Metrolinx was considering Cherry Street as a potential station back when they revealed the 50-some new potential sites for GO stations, so who knows.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Wow great find! If they want to give downtown more relief, they could really add one more station near the Distillery District area.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Willing to bet that SmartTrack will just be GO RER with a few more Toronto stations and better intergrated fare. Basically a more local all-day service from Unionville down to Union Station, and then up to Bramela area. Whether the Western portion and the Eastern portion will be connected may...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

http://www.blogto.com/city/2015/05/this_is_what_the_new_go_cab_cars_look_like/ Anyone know if these new cab cars can be electrified? Are these for GO RER?
  5. N

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

"To me the most likely Smart track plan would be to run it as a separate service, with its own trains and stations, GO trains will stop at the current stations and Smart track trains will stop at the infill stations and the current GO train stations. I'm not sure if there would be enough space...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Sorry I meant that this King St design is a good solution for the short term until the DRL is actually built. Let's face it, DRL probably won't be opened for at last another 15-20 years, so we need something in the meantime.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

IMO this plan makes too much sense, especially since we keep dragging our feet with the DRL. Accomodates delivery trucks and drop offs on King, cheap and fast to implement. Bu then again, we live in Toronto.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Not sure if this was ever covered, but what sort of train will Smart Track use? Double decker trains like the GO, or trains similar to what is used for the UPX?
  9. N

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

I do wonder though if they are thinking about putting SmartTrack underground for the Downtown portion, and add maybe 2 more stops - that maybe a good compromise for the DRL. Run it down Wellington/King St. They can always open SmartTrack in 2 phases, with surface rail in 7-8 years, and...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Does anyone know what happened to the plan to reduce the number of streetcar stops (i.e. remove all stops that are not at intersections)? Is that plan dead?

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

SmartTrack? Yeah, once Mt. Dennis station is up, they should probably remove Weston Station from UPX. If Tory and team cannot find a way to get SmartTrack to the airport, maybe they can just continue Smarttrack up this corridor all the way to up to Weston Station, then Etobicoke North and...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Not sure if this has already been discussed, but is there room to add more tracks if SmartTrack decides to follow the UPX corridor (at least up to Weston Station if there is no way it can go to the Airport)? Perhaps SmartTrack can end at Weston Station instead - I think that neighborhood can...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Transit Plans

I do think SmartTrack will be wise to merge with UPX. Essentially UPX will act as the express train and only stop at Mt Dennis (for the Eglinton LRT) and Dundas (Bloor) before it arrives at Union. SmartTrack will have additional stops at Spadina/Roger Center, Liberty Village, and use the...

Politics: Tim Hudak's Plan for Ontario if he becomes Premier

I am talking about the idea of 'buying votes' at the expense of the tax payers. For example, if the Sheppard LRT has been studied and shown to be more than adequate given the demographics, but subways are 'sexier' but will cost a lot more, how is switching over to the subway plan not buying votes?

Politics: Tim Hudak's Plan for Ontario if he becomes Premier

Can someone explain why Liberals and removing gas plants being politically motivated is a bad thing, but when Ford wants to spend an extra $1 billion to build a subway in Scarborough instead of the LRT, or Hudak wants to extend the Sheppard subway instead of the LRT (to buy votes in those areas)...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

With many of the PanAm events scheduled to be in Markham (right near Unionville station), wonder if they will have improved GO Train service to move people from downtown up to Markham via the Stoufville line? Wonder if they install a new passing track between 401 to Agincourt Station and a bit...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

As someone who lives in Markham who desperately want to take a train Downtown (instead of driving), I completely agree. They do need to double track this route though (study is already underway). Otherwise, 1 train takes about 1.5 hour round trip (too long). IMO this will better serve north...

Politics: Tim Hudak's Plan for Ontario if he becomes Premier

I too am fine with the cancellation of the LRT lines so long as they replace them with more express buses using the Articulated buses. They can actually try the LRT stops with these buses. They also need to widen the lanes whenever possible. I am fine ONLY if they use the savings to apply to...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Been thinking about pricing. Say a one-way trip will cost around $22-25, maybe GO will have different price plans: I.e.: 1 way will be around $22.50 Round trip will be $40.00 (so $20 each way) Now, sell weekly and monthly passes to people (probably local residents who need to use the...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Interesting I saw one of those Artic long buses on Sheppard between Markham Rd and McCowan. I think it was a practice bus. With the Pan Am games coming, and the new Swimming pool at U of T Scarborough, I think the government should use some of that LRT money to start widening Sheppard - say...
