    Bloordale Village

Some pictures of Paradise are up on this blog...http://traveltorontonow.blogspot.ca/2013/11/paradise-cinema-to-be-demolished.html I thought this cinema was designated as a heritage structure?.....

    Bloordale Village

Anyone know what's going on with the Paradise cinema at Westmoreland and Bloor? There's hoarding up blocking off the entrance way and a sign that says caution demolition that has gone up.....

    Toronto Toronto | Wallace Walk Towns | ?m | 4s | The Somerset Group | KFA

Sorry I know this is the wrong thread, but I can't start new threads and I haven't found another one for this....Could someone start a new thread or point me to a better place to post this? Interesting 3 storey laneway project on Bartlett Avenue near Dufferin and Bloor. There's a boiler factory...

    Toronto Toronto | Gibson Square Condominiums | 137.46m | 42s | Menkes | Rafael + Bigauskas

Not really new, just don't post often.....been a member for a long time. I contribute when I feel I have something to add that probably wouldn't be added by others....

    Toronto Toronto | Gibson Square Condominiums | 137.46m | 42s | Menkes | Rafael + Bigauskas

Understandable.....buyers in the condo probably also don't want demos popping up outside (doubt 3 brewers does either).......anyways I thought it was relevant, but if the mod explains to me that it's contravening a UT policy I'll leave it at that....

    Toronto Toronto | Alexandra Park Revitalization | 53.48m | 15s | TCHC | SvN

I did a Jane's Walk through here with Adam Vaughan last year. My understanding was that there were going to be small scale storefronts some of which would be subsidized and turned over to local businesses along Dundas and Augusta (kind of like the experiment in the shipping containers at Dundas...

Toronto Toronto | Garrison Crossing (was Fort York Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge) | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | Pedelta

A brief Walk from Garrison Commons to Cityplace....The pedestrian bridge here and at Cityplace will hopefully make this a well connected and used linear park right in the centre of the city. (There are 15 pics...I'm not sure if this is overkill, if it is I have them posted in an album on my...

RIP Toronto Police Officer Sergeant Ryan Russell

Well the 4 migrant workers died due to criminal negligence...does that count for something? Taxi driving is the most lethal profession in terms of workers murdered....does that count? Are the numerous women who go missing and whose murders remain unsolved special enough to commemorate? I guess...

RIP Toronto Police Officer Sergeant Ryan Russell

Honest Sympathy vs. Police Propaganda While I sympathize with Ryan Russells' family, it is important to ask questions when the first Toronto police officer to die on duty in the last 10 years is used to blast the public realm with pro-police propaganda. Why didn't we shut down the streets of...

Minto Applies for 26 Storeys at 94 Cumberland Street

I agree completely! It's beneficial for any neighborhood to have a mix of uses. Not to mention the environmental impact of demolishing a perfectly useful building to build a new one rather than filling in unused space (although admittedly Yorkville is pretty tightly paced these days).....

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

Areas like Museum campus in Chicago tend to be a mistake. Cultural institutions can provide a needed boost to communities and to take advantage of their full potential should be dispersed throughout the city. Also, if all located together, the region tends to become isolated in off hours.

A place to live downtown — with the kids

Just because it's a club district today doesn't mean it will be a club district tomorrow.....Isn't the Club District's success already slowly killing it? http://www.nowtoronto.com/daily/story.cfm?content=172740 Do we really want to build districts without the infrastructure to accomodate a...

A place to live downtown — with the kids

'Cause Jane's Walks are comin' up.... "....few city residential districts that do become outstandingly magnetic and successful at generating diversity and vitality are subjected ultimately to the same forces of self-destruction as downtowns. In this case, so many people want to live in the...

    Thornhill

I also grew up in Thornhill (I remember the Country Style parking lot), and am also now a 20 something living in the city bitter about the burbs (although I miss the road hockey). With that said I think Thornhill has some potential (I'm still back frequently visiting the parents). The area of...
