    Car-Free Streets

I would love it if this idea started with closing the stretch between the library and City Hall. I believe that would be the quickest win with the least impact.

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

A photo of a Swoop departure from YEG I took a couple of years ago from the hotel but never got to use:

    New Zoning Bylaw

The new zoning bylaw going to the Urban Affairs committee June 20. Lots of interesting details in the report and the attachments.

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I don't know there's any demand for it, but I would personally like to see that lot #422 developed somehow. It's been barren since I was a kid (too long ago)

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I don't think this was the driver's intention, but this video filmed Wednesday shows at least three and perhaps as many as four trains testing on the Valley Line.

But then you'd have to consult EVERY council...

    Alberta Politics

This quote, to me, sums up Smith's thinking on Edmonton (maybe even a bit of Calgary): "We've got a lot of support that we need to get to the City of Edmonton in dealing with their public disorder and mental health and addictions crisis." (emphasis added) Yes there's a lot to do, but the city...

    Alberta Politics

A fascinating tidbit from the election: the UCP captured 52% of the vote and won 56% of the seats - may be the closest Canada has to seats won corresponding to votes received. Edit: I reversed the numbers so that's now fixed
  9. B

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Interesting, with about 20% more seats too!

    Capital Line LRT

There's a separate project that passed council last week to replace the U2s

    Around Edmonton

    Those streetlights are definitely Toronto

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Not quite, Metrolinx is an Ontario Crown agency that runs GO transit and is building the Ontario line (on top of a bunch of other transit projects in and around Toronto), so one of the two will be around for the long term -- at least until a new government has some new idea

    Miscellaneous

Ok, I'm conflicted on this one. A rezoning proposal is going to council May 30 to allow a mid-rise development in Glenora along the path of the LRT on Stony Plain Road and 136 St. It's a good location for more density, and generally I support increased density, particularly in central areas...

The person with the seeing eye dog made me think about the angled pillars we see on the new canopy. How do architects prevent, say, a blind person (or an inattentive person for that matter) from bonking their heads on an angled pillar?

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

There was a route from YEG to downtown that was part of EMTSC, but that is now dead
  16. B

    Edmonton Oilers

NHL Player Safety Vegas’ Alex Pietrangelo will have a hearing today for Slashing against Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl.
  17. B

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Personally, I would prefer more frequent service to a single destination rather than 1 infrequent bus to Century Park and 1 infrequent bus to downtown, but whatever gets more service out there gets my vote
  18. B

    Edmonton Aerials

CBC has posted an aerial tour of the river valley
  19. B

    Edmonton Oilers

Stuart Skinner one of three finalists for the Calder Trophy, along with Matty Beniers and Owen Power
  20. B

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Agreed. Airports don't have the same peaks as commuter service and are more likely to generate more consistent traffic through the day than other routes. I wonder what the cost of making the route 30 minutes all day would be and whether there are discussions between the city and airport to make...
