Hey, every firm can put forward an unsuccessful design. I am sure they have not won every competition they have entered. And I was only suggesting a landmark, not the crystal specifically. Frankly, I think they could have used more of the space just south of the ROM. They could have given the...

Strike two by U of T for this site. While some contributors might think that anything and everything would be opposed by local community associations, this one should be opposed. This design has a few interesting details but is basically just a decorated box shoehorned into the site. The...

Of course you need large lobbies for that. I guess I should have been more clear. Big TALL multi-story lobbies. I think that bank architecture was famous for this. Just surprised it still goes on. And of course, the point was ground-floor retail. Not basement or upper floor. It makes for a dead...

What is the point of a huge lobby like this building has? Trying to make people feel small? There is no street presence, just a dead space to walk by. The building makes an attractive architectural model, I'll admit.

The priority is keeping operations going, sure, but would you go further in debt right now? Even if it is cheap?

Is there a limit for how long you can leave a hole vacant like this? Nevermind having facades propped up too. And the sidewalk blocked?

This location is not Bloor/Yonge. One Bloor East was and is a flagship for GG. I kind of felt that this project was pushing it. Really really big. There are a lot of reasons to say no right now. Sensible developers will be working on completing existing projects without taking on more project...

Talking about towers going up next to you ... this is a case where some thought to how this area 'grows up' is needed. Is there anything going on in this area that is not high-rise? Doesn't it seem appropriate that there should be some step-down to the neighbourhood to the north? Like all of...

    Toronto Toronto | Oak House at Canary Landing | 162.61m | 46s | Dream | Henning Larsen

I am really curious about that. The routing has to cross the Don north of the rail lines to head north-west eventually to Queen Street. I think they will have to dive under the rail lines' viaduct and turn north on Parliament. There is -some- loading space but there is definitely a conflict...

Looking at the rendering makes me realize that the street level is getting less and less direct sunlight. Is it time to say the area is maxed out?

Uninspired. Is the height there just to try and impress? It's a corner location on major streets and adds nothing. So many people walk by there. I think the upper floors are just another safe location for the very well-off to bunker down.

I did not know this forum was degenerating into the Sun's comments section.

It's been done, but it doesn't have to be expropriation. Apartment buildings abandoned by owners/developers do get bought up. The Pope Squat building got bought by Ontario. I know of a apartment building at Queen and Sorauren that was expropriated by Toronto. In these days of low vacancy rates...

Maybe it's time for the City to expropriate? The owners seem to not care anymore.

Right size and rental. This should not be controversial. I wonder what is the big first-floor area for? It kind of looks like an apple store or library mix, both kind of unlikely. A 24-hour supermarket maybe.

Still a lot of vacant space in the area. I wonder how long it will take to be filled in.

They could build it real fast if they put the subway above ground ... hahahahahahahahahahaha

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I think a sheppard subway from the airport in the west to the scarborough town centre in the east would be very useful. That could really offload the 401 and provide a relatively quick way across the city via transit. Who cares what Doug Ford thinks. The Crosstown will not be quick at all, but a...
