    Church-Wellesley Village

It is not a marked city laneway. It is the property of the condo corporation. That was confirmed by the city and so it was closed to stop all the traffic from flying through there like maniacs, almost causing accidents.

    Bay Street Corridor

Does anyone know the status of 880 Bay? THey've started demolishing the old piece of Women's College that was behind those buildings but the whole thing was supposed to be turned into a major office tower for the Ontario Government. Now it seems that 880 Bay is still occupied by workers...

What they really need to to build a second subway line directly beneath the existing one.

    Church-Wellesley Village

I do hope that the closure is north of Maitland, otherwise there will be a lot of really bad traffic problems caused by this for people living on Mutual Street. Maitland is the only convenient way to get to Jarvis.

    Sobeys

I am waiting for teh Metro at GOuld and Church to go under. The place is always deserted and they have almost not staff on. It used to be packed but has been in decline for a few years now. I went int the Sobeys that is closing today and they literally have only a few shelves of items left...

    Harbourfront

Apparently, the Guvernment has been sold to a developer. That is a very large site with great potential.

    Downtown Yonge

Wrong. It means their products are cheaper and mass branded, drowning out the little guy. A small coffee shop could be offering up the best coffee known to man and they'd still get bulldozed by the mass chains eventually.

With proper signage, it could work. Dollarama is in the basement of College Park but is still makes lots of money, so does the Metro. As long as they opened up the underground access properly, the right retailer/restaurant might do ok. A small Walmart, for example, or a good Greek restaurant.

    Toronto Toronto | Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

Maybe they should have considered putting a proper large store or higher-end restaurant in the underground rather than all those little stores.

    Downtown Yonge

Coffee Zone beverages were actually top notch. THey really blew Starbucks out of the water in that regard. But, as others have alluded to, it is hard for a small retailer producing a quality product to compete with a multinational corporation and their economies of scale advantage, even if the...

Does anyone know whether they will be doing something to beautify the underside of the metal awning the juts out above the retail podium? They really ruin the aesthetic of the lower part of the building.

    Downtown Yonge

This is a true shame. Really..there is another stupid Starbucks about a two minute walk away at the corner of Yonge and College. How much you bet the Holiday Inn wanted to charge teh Coffee Zone stupid rent that only a Starbucks can afford.

    Downtown Yonge

The Sobeys jut south of Wellesley will close in two weeks because the new one at College Park is taking away business. It will be interesting to see what goes there or if a developer picks up the property given it has a decent square footage.

Interesting coincidence...heard the Sobeys next door to this site is closing two weeks from now. It will be interesting to see if a developer snaps up that site as it is fairly large. Could be the chance to redevelop that area of Yonge, though I don't think it will be part of teh Lanterra...

What possible advantage would that be to the Y? Tear down a modern well equipped facility, which they own and have low overhead costs...move it into a facility they don't own and cannot control and then have to pay inflated rent for. It's a pipe dream and I think there are shrooms in the...

That YMCA is one of the nicest examples of architecture in that area of the city. Tearing it down would be a crime.

The picture above/below? looks remarkably like the Olympic Village from the Montreal Olympics.Definitely hearkens back to the 70s, just on a much grander scale.

Beg to differ. You WALK on a PATH. By your definition, the Go Station in Hamilton is also on the path as is Finch Station and the Scarberia Town Centre, since it connected by public transit. The PATH is a system of walkable connected underground tunnels and malls.

Not sure they would use St. Luke Lane as teh entrance, especially since teh Opera property to teh west already has a good roundabout driveway that mgiht be leveraged through some sort of agreement. It looks like it was built for further phases of Opera that never materialized. It would...

The garage entrance would almost certainly be off Breadalbane, which is a heavily underused downtown street. I don't see traffic issues unless you have a lot of left turns from there onto Yonge/Bay. I would not be shocked if the city rezoned Breadalbane to a one-way YOnge to Bay as a further...
