I got most of the ideas from the Hong Kong MTR and the Taipei MRT system. It's just that when you listen to those announcements it makes you want to listen to them if you know what I mean. The ones we have here, after listenining to it, it made feel like, "oh ok, whatever..." Also, is there a...

Are they ever going to make changes to those announcements? It really bothers me when it says "Please stand clear of doors" AFTER the door closes... Also, the statement itself is grammatically incorrect as some ppl have mentioned here. Here are some suggestions that I have for the...

Garbage cans on trains? You are not serious...right?! The trains are already packed during rush hours and now you want to place cans in the middle of the aisle?! Wow...and how about buses and streetcars? Are you going to place cans on it too? So in the end, we are encouraging people to have food...

Sigh...this is not going anywhere, forget it, it's no use. People want to be stubborn then I've got nothing else to say. I just don't see how people can demand more and better service when they have no respect for the service at all. With that in mind, why even bother ordering the new...

Thanks for the being respectful to the system. I understand your concern and yes sometimes it can be difficult when you have a long commute and you just want to have small bite, but people need to understand that the TTC is not a restaurant where you can eat your stuff and then just leave it...

Right? That's exactly how I felt...seriously, it's time to ban food and drinks on the TTC...Before people demand better service from the TTC, they better first learn to respect the service.

DRL routing. Where would you put it?

I don't get it, what was wrong with this plan? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2135/2411960022_33380eba17.jpg Is it because of the EA? Budget?

Why are they tearing up every major street in Toronto?

Now that I am on this topic, I've also noticed that there has always been huge construction projects going on especially on Finch and Sheppard Ave. For Finch, I am guessing they are doing some road maintenance work cause I see lots of holes and ready to be filled in with new asphalt. For...

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

Here is a fare by distance chart I took from the Taipei MRT Wikipedia site. I think we can use something like this too. What do you guys think? By the way, this is in New Taiwanese Dollars and $1 CDN is roughly $30 NTD

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

Ah I see. Makes perfect sense now! Thanks! So yea, Do u guys think it would be hard for the TTC to implement something like this and work with Presto? Do we really need 4 to 5 years to figure this out?

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

I see, I think it's beginning to make sense now. So let me make up a scenario and u tell me if this makes sense. 1. I get on at stop A - tap on, no fare is deducted 2. I get off at stop B (5 km later) - tap off, fare is calculated based on distance, so in your case: 0.80 + 0.02*5 = $0.90...

Seriously, it's time to disband those unions and come up with a new business plan/strategy...cause it just ain't working...

Why are they tearing up every major street in Toronto?

I pass by Warden and 401 everyday and currently there is some sort of construction going on right now, but I have no idea what they are doing...could it be road maintenance, repairing a sewage, putting in a new layer of asphalt, etc. Then again, it makes sense to do the repairs and maintenance...

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

I still don't get it though...if we are going to use the Presto system or even the distance based system, how do we incorporate the transfer system in it? For example, if I get on the bus at Stop A and heading towards Stop B and want to transfer to another bus from there, how would I tap on/off...
