GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

For those who know more about this type of thing, what work can be done in Guelph until the GEXR lease is over? There's still at least a few months left, IIRC.

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Just noticed they've started work on the frame for the glass over the TTC entrance this morning, as pictured above. Might have been there for a while, but I'm only through Union once or twice a week.

    2018 Provincial Election Transit Promises

That'd be a pretty hard promise to make.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Go has released the beta of their new site (beta.gotransit.com). Although it looks nicer, they have opted to remove pdf timetables in favour of the build your own schedule option. My guess is their reason is related to AODA, but other agencies have both pdf and dynamic. Three of 6 initial...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

Yes, the bridge does have capacity for a third track.

    TTC: New Fare Gate Installation

Out of the systems I've been on, Munich and Prague are the two that use POP for their subways (or at least did when I was there). Toronto, Montreal, NYC, London, Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona all use gates / turnstiles of some variety. (again, time may have changed the accuracy of this statement).

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Speaking of GO bus pit stops, I was on my way to Kitchener last week and woke up from my nap then the bus driver pulled into the ON Route in Cambridge to let someone off to use the washroom.

Two announcements for the price of one, both on improvements to service. Unlike the former announcements to announce that they are planning to announce an announcement.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Testing on northbound track from Erb/Caroline through King/Victoria today. Although it only made it to Agnes (about 2-3 blocks north of Victoria yesterday)

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

LA has these as well. Seemed to be 1, 2, or 3 per green, depending on the location.

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

I've thought that a piece of the puzzle would be variable speed limits from Guelph Line through Oshawa. Wouldn't solve the issue in its entirety, but would remove the expectations that drivers are obligated/entitled to go 100km/h + through this stretch regardless of conditions.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yesterday was my first time through the station, so I got disoriented and ended up coming out of the station through the FreshCo lot, so I could have likely saved a minute or two by coming out at Bloor. Going to work, I would say this option makes the most sense. Coming home from work, I think...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I got off the Kitchener line at Bloor this morning to get to the office at Yonge/Bloor. I haven't been able to figure out if the difference in time is worth the time spent outside walking to Dundas West, but figured I'd try it anyway.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

501 headed east this morning going to Millhaven to be brought up to the same standards as 502-504. Not sure why the bad photoshop job was required though.

The EasyGo fare card will also allow multiple users to travel and transfer on the same card (bus only). I don't think Presto allows that.
