The lights are on tonight and they look great. Caught me off guard. But my camera sucks or my photog ability sucks. In any case I'm sure you all will be quick to get the pics up. My attempt looks more like a UFO landing by a trailerhome.

UrbanToronto Tours Menkes' New Telus House At 25 York Street

Cool Telepresence video. We could save billions on future G-8/G-20 summits. Although it would need to be incredibly secure. Also love the herb garden. Most critters don't show interest in eating herbs so it's a wise choice.

So true,dt_toronto_geek. Certainly the Winners store/Club Monaco/Gap/Nike etc. These are all non high-end stores. I walk to them all the time because it's so close. But for many neighborhoods this is a easy bike ride.

Thanks interchange42. If the proposed tower goes up to the east side of Casa then I will lose much of my Uptown view. I think One Bloor is going to take away the chunk of sky between Uptown and BSN also. But I don't mind. I enjoy watching the changes.

    Church-Wellesley Village

Yes, it seems Mike Meyers knew a lot about Toronto gay bars when that movie came out. There is also a scene where they are chased thru a leather bar called the Toolbox. But the Comrades in the movie is referring to the former Komrads with a "K" which is now the location of Yonge St. Fitness...

Article: Night Shots of Casa Lobby

There is a little bit of seating on the west side of the lobby. It's all beautiful but I wish clear glass had been used for the stairs and upper lobby so non resident's could see what's happening up there. The glass used reminds me of piano keys.

The Grand Hive was for many years called Angelini's I think. Italian food. At some point it was also called The Kremlin( a lesbian bar) but only for 6 months at most.

Quick Pic: Lotus Condominiums Under Construction

The pigeons at this corner are legendary in number. By the looks of this photo they are not giving up their land. Hopefully when this is done I will no longer need to wear my Tippi Hendren brave face when walking past their glare.

More Glimpses Of The Unique Five St. Joseph

Truly beautiful. The rendering of Yonge St. shows restoration of buildings beyond the project site. Hopefully this is a commitment the builder can keep.

Photo Of The Day: The Very First Pizza Pizza

From 1987 to 1992 I worked in the Order Processing Dept. at PP(as we called it) in the head office at Jarvis St./Charles St. E. The stores all have numbers and Store 1 was Parliament/Wellesley. There were even order takers who remembered working upstairs at Store 1 before the office was moved...

    Church-Wellesley Village

When the condo at Church/Alexander was proposed there was fear that the condo owners would be opposed to events like Pride/Fetish Fair etc.. which bring disruption and noise. Luckily most of the owners were gay and nothing came of it. This new proposal at Church/Dundonald will likely raise...

I simply meant that the sidewalk appears to be at it's widest at this location unlike the "cut-in" at Pusateri's. Unfortunately cars will stop there for pick-up/drop-off weather there is a cut-in or not just as they do everywhere in the city.

I may have missed this being discussed before but a reliable source told me that the owner of William Ashley lost lot's of money fighting for the right to have a cut in the sidewalk for cars. Similar to what Pusateri's on Bay has for customer pick-up and drop-off. I think there's a name for...

    Church-Wellesley Village

Great article Dark Star. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. It's true that retail and restaurants are fickle and ever changing but the essence of the neighbourhood can never be lost. In the mindset of the city this area will always be the gay village. By the way, those embedded gold street...

and the coating of pigeon poop was the other reason the mural came down. Don't we have the technology yet to make pigeons poop oil or natural gas?

    Church-Wellesley Village

There has been a persistent rumor the past few days that the ROB fetish retailer from Europe is going to enter the North American market with a store in the old Crews/Tango space. Makes some sense because some of their stores in Europe also have accommodations above them. This locations would...

    Church-Wellesley Village

This has happened a number of times before with Statlers. It was blamed on a boiler issue last time, so they may come back again. But the place has terrible service as others have stated. It's always a struggle to get a drink, you have to practically beg for one. On one occasion the waiter took...
