Nuclear power is what it is. It is by no means a safe and cheap source of power. That is not to say that other sources of power (i.e. coal) are cleaner, but a hell of a lot cheaper when you consider the negative impacts of radioactive waste. How do you even begin to put a price on that...

    DRL: Subway or LRT?

Based on the LRVs that I have seen in Europe(with and without dedicated lanes), they are slower than subways, both in travel speeds and passenger loading times, even with an honour system for fare payment. Assuming the TTC does not re-invent the LRV, I do not expect these new LRVs to be much...

    DRL: Subway or LRT?

The downtown relief line should be a subway. Cost savings will not greater with LRT due to the fact that they are slower and have a lower capacity, therefore more LRTs will need to be purchased and driven by more unionized workers. How would an underground or above ground LRT system collect...

    Toronto Toronto | St. Clair West Transit Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC

I stumbled upon this report, which answered my own question, but at the same time raised another. http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2008/pw/bgrd/backgroundfile-11853.pdf "Given that the city has the intention of extending the St. Clair Ave. W. Streetcar right-of-way sometime in the...

Stockyards, The (30 Weston Rd. @ St. Clair, retail, Trinity, 2s, GreenbergFarrow)

City Council is doing a poor job in addressing the manner in which land use is taxed, and as a result, these big box stores are being encouraged. The city could easily raise property taxes for retail along the St. Clair strip to encourage density and smart growth. Big box sprawl is an enormous...

Stockyards, The (30 Weston Rd. @ St. Clair, retail, Trinity, 2s, GreenbergFarrow)

These developers appear to be new to the city. Apparently there is a St. Clair Avenue South. In addition, they seem to have no problem with tacking on the words "Big Box" onto several of the proposed buildings. That neighbourhood should rally together to encourage a more dense zone with...

Stockyards, The (30 Weston Rd. @ St. Clair, retail, Trinity, 2s, GreenbergFarrow)

http://www.trinity-group.com/?q=node/432 The website claims that this project will be finished by Spring 2010. For them to do extensive soil remediation and construction within 2 years will be impressive, but by no means impossible. (That Wal-Mart was up in no time down the street.)...

    Toronto Toronto | St. Clair West Transit Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC

possible St. Clair ROW extension west of Gunn's Loop I remember hearing that there are/were plans to extend the St. Clair ROW west of Gunn's Loop as far as Jane St for the purpose of continuity as the extension would be able to feed Jane St with streetcars. The northeast corner of Jane St. and...

    City Reports 2008

Yahoo maps shows that 4 Spadina is at Front and Spadina, but after looking over that document from 2006, the 4a buildings may just be Montage and Neo, which I believe are 47 and 16 floors. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Lumiere should be added to the list. (It's the one west of College Park on Bay.) Although if Edilcan didn't feel that it was worth the investment to attach The Met and Encore to the subway and the College Park PATH system, it is likely that Lumiere won't either. It's a shame.

If you look closely at this photo posted by casaguy, you can see the parking garage lighting/electrical being installed before the next level is poured in what will be the ceiling. It's interesting to see it in action.
