TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

When compared to the properly lit and signed islands to the north the difference is clear. There is a reason they are intended to be lit. The city should replace the temporary illuminated signage until the permanent connections are in place.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

City builds new concrete safety islands on Bathurst Street for passengers of new streetcars. City removes illuminated construction signage. City does not activate permanent safety lighting. Sun sets. 2 hours later ... A driver collides with southbound barrier.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

I was very surprised to see a cop on a bike enforcing the existing transit-only late on King Street West during this afternoon's rush hour! Finally!

Pinewood Studios 2.5 Million Sq/ft development (1000 Condos, Hotel, Retail)

Looks like an announcement will be made at TIFF tonight about this... but just more office and studio space; not residential or other development. http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/1254347--toronto-s-pinewood-film-studio-expands

Cumberland Cinema Redevelopment into Nespresso Flagship COMPLETE

I'd guess it may be like their South Beach store that contains a large cafe.

    Toronto Toronto | L-Tower | 204.82m | 58s | Cityzen | Daniel Libeskind

Aren't they actually different? The north elevation is angled while the west side is not, so the northern windows have a slightly longer expanse to cover (Pythagorean theorem) . Plus the north windows are curtainwall in front of the slabs while the west windows are window wall within the slabs...

A new road wasn't mentioned at the meeting. In fact they mentioned the city is planning some development (which I also heard about from a contact at Build Toronto) for the eastern-most land right at Bathurst St.'s west side, just north of the tracks, currently a city yard and staging area for...

    Toronto Toronto | West Condos | 46.51m | 14s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

I attended the developer's voluntary community meeting about this a few weeks ago. The plan is to do a full restoration of the existing structures and to build the two towers at the south end of the site, behind the existing buildings, with an internal courtyard between all of the structures...

15 Wellesley E (Parking lot redevelopment, Plaza, ?s, Quadrangle)

When I lived nearby, I often thought the eastern-most row of parking should be replaced by a tree-lined path, linking the walkway and linear parks that continue north from Wellesley. Less than one quarter of the lot's spots would need to be removed if the existing laneway was incorporated.

Although I won't put my own life at risk by actually trusting the stop lights 100% either. I cross at these lights a few times a week, and often drivers just don't see them; especially the drivers making left turns onto Bathurst from nearby, very close streets; and drivers who try to pass the...

I recall reading somewhere that the city is no longer installing pedestrian crosswalks, instead opting for pedestrian controlled traffic signals, due to safety concerns. This is why signals were installed nearby on Bathurst St. between Niagara and Wellingston Streets.

    Toronto Toronto | Ryerson's Mattamy Athletics Centre + Loblaws at the Gardens | ?m | ?s | Ryerson University | Turner Fleischer

Loblaws head office told me mid-November without a specific date; another forum member said 24th. Very soon, in any case. I went by yesterday and could see some finished surfaces and lighting. I had seen dry product on the shelves, covered in plastic, several seeks ago. They installed an...

I wrote to Loblaws to ask, as this will be my neighbourhood grocery store, and they replied mid-November without a specific date.

The little brown brick building at the top-left (south-east) of the red-outlined area is also part of the parking garage, correct? It has the elevators for the garage and some office space.

I agree that taxis, etc. would stop at the curb. But having only one ramp from Front Street reduces the number of locations for conflict between pedestrians walking those blocks and cars entering the site, right? I believe all the service vehicles would also be directed down the ramp to the...

I heard them name ERA consultants but can't remember the other company. Did they mention something about the existing first floor being a few steps above grade at the beginning before the mic was working?

I was at the meeting as well. Your summary is bang on. The main thing I did like about the proposal was that all vehicle traffic to the site is directed to the underground via ramp access on Front Street; no other at grade driveways or dropoffs. I thought that was very thoughtful to the...
