    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Preach. What happened on Eglinton is a damn shame. Yet somehow, so very Toronto.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

OL looks bad on this map - the area south of bloor is too exaggerated in the N-S direction and makes the dips down to the Lakeshore look much longer than they actually are. The other map they have in that report looks nicer.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Way better than what we're getting, good job. Though personally I'd prefer remaining on Eglinton and going up to Morningside.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

A city that continues to grow will always continue to need more infrastructure. The relief line is not and must not be the last investment in transit this city makes, or we will soon find ourselves right back in the position we are in now.

I'd prefer it be an underground connection at Don Mills, and at Eglinton too. But I recognize that would increase cost.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Doubt it will need to go north of Finch in our lifetimes. Heck, probably won't go north of Sheppard though extending to end at Finch/Seneca would be a good idea. I think tunnelling under the highway would be more expensive than an overpass? It could drop underground at Sheppard, but the...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Seriously. Choosing a low floor tram for a fully grade separated line would be idiotic. Not to mention the issues Ottawa is having with that particular vehicle....

Those Alstom trains are sexy. Are we allowed to say that word on this forum? Well, too late I guess. I stand by it. No thats not weird.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Huge, huge relief to see them reaffirm 100m platforms, even if they may start with 80m trains. Certainly would have preferred the full capacity rockets at 150m, but I was afraid they'd do something stupid and go with something really short.

    Golden Mile Secondary Plan Study

A few people have said it already, but hundreds of billions is a huge overstatement. Possibly one of the biggest I've seen on this site. It would have been expensive, yes. Not that expensive. Tbh Eglinton probably should have been a full on subway, at least to Kennedy. And if not, a medium...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

And I hope things stay that way.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I wouldn't say its a problem to switch from one to the other for new lines - in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't even matter. Buuuuut personally I think its dumb to keep switching, because then you're reinventing the wheel each time you do a transit project (and restarting debates)...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Pointless. Ford doesn't care what City council thinks about this project.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

The original sin of Scarborough's transit story is having this not come to pass.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I am relieved to see that mention of 100m trains. I think I'd cry if we end up with 40m trains like Montreal is getting.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Don't know enough about Montreal to comment fully but first thoughts are: 1. Cool. 2. Seems weird to run a branch to the north-east rather than extending the metro up that way. Its basically serving as a metro extension, without actually being one and results in kind of a weird duplication of...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Eglinton West has no business being underground - the entire line should be elevated. But that speaks more to Eglinton West and the province's twisted priorities than it does to the OL. The OL presents some serious benefits by going above ground (at least in the east end), which allows for...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

4 billion for a glorified streetcar line is absurd. Instead of restudying the relief and Scarborough subway lines 20 times over the past decade maybe they should have looked into why transit infrastructure projects have spiralled so completely out of control, because this flat out is not...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Would probably add a stop at Jameson and and add another stop of two along ronsy. Right now it seems to skip most of the west side of downtown.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

People like what they know. I know I personally became a fan of the world of transportation planning because of riding to work on the Toronto subway, and I'm sure many others here did too. Its hard, when you've thought for so many years "We should build more of this!" to accept a plan that is a...
