    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

It was studied. The brt line does not currently go on Deerfoot and is not on congested roads until inglewood/ Ramsay. Building a dedicated row next to not congested roads while leaving the expensive parts to build later is just a waste.

BRT doesn’t reduce travel time much unless you build a bus tunnel(or elevate it) from Inglewood west, which would be more expensive not less than a train.

There isn’t a station box under city hall. It is a double crossover track. Station boxes were to be under Olympic plaza. You’d be introducing a second interline for little reason (to save a few hundred metres of tunnel) which would mean all three lines would interact greatly complicating...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

^ Is DP the phase where most of the fees are paid, or is that BP? Might just be get the approval in the can, then flip, for someone that can do a better project but doesn't want to take the 'risk'.

Good to look at what they scope in, and out. Plenty of projects world wide are reusing existing rail corridors for new purposes, not new ones, without costing that value. Pretty common to report after offsetting the reported cost with fare revenue? (operationally freestanding with partial...

This was studied and rejected for the reasons you cite.

Yeah. Council should have (or the Mayor exhorted in private once the difficulties became more clear), that the board should consider drastic changes to deliver on the mobility objectives of the green line program.

Might be in the wheel house, but where it really helps is in soft (may be using that word wrong in this context) costs, by reducing the demanded risk premium.

that is 67m into the profile. The height is 1060.2 minus 1048.9 m, or 11.3 metres

The elevation over the CPR (line between the two purple bits on the profile) is similar to what's needed over the spiral ramp.

If can do the turn slowly, can turn just fine. All a matter of trade offs. It is all a matter of optimization. Digging a big hole turns out after 7, 8 years of trying to mitigate it, turns out to be an awful nut to crack.

It would. Don't need to put a single pile into the bad soil if it really that bad, don't need to ever have empty volume if it is only mostly bad. Now it will create other problems, but whatever. Here is the profile with the structures needed to clear in purple (CPR also needs 12 or 14m rail to...

The downtown tunnel ate the rest of the project. The downtown tunnel is now gone. Where the project ends up now is a total guess. Buying Aspen Square, and making it grand central, solves many problems. The can even make it no tunnel, even stay on the south side of the CPR, and still be...

Getting that far north is an issue. Centre St has a lot of utilities under it. Probably cheaper to take a row of houses out on either side of Centre than try to move all those utilities. Given how construction is now way more expensive, but houses are somewhat flat.

The feds believe in subsidiarity, that if the local government has skin in the game, the local government must value it, and not be wasting their own money.

The city should let the province be the delivery agency and if the city has been smart the provincial project will be even worse. In any case. By the time the review is done could have a new Premier.

    General Construction Updates

Might be some way to change the tax treatment of land banking from passive to active. So the economics might be a bit different than other development schemes.
