    Edmonton Oilers

If asked last September, October or November if we would be happy if the Oilers played even two home games in the Stanley Cup Final, most of us would have said we’d be ecstatic. Regardless of what happens Saturday - or in any games that might be played after Saturday - this season has been a...

    Low Level Bridge

It would be different if that plaque was an anti-rust cathode that would prevent the steel it was mounted on from rusting away to the point of being structurally unsound. It’s the condition of the bridge that is a disgrace, not the fact that it is a designated historical structure.

David A, I know we're all armchair quarterbacks here but in regard to your first reply I would be interested in knowing exactly what you think Sohi could have/should have done that wasn't done? And in regard to your second reply I would be interested in knowing what you think he could...

^ I think what this demonstrates is the ineffectiveness of the Mayor's office in Alberta and across Canada - particularly when saddled with a new and/or ineffective council or administration - more than the effectiveness of the individual.

There's also the "deferred compensation" of future earnings that are considerably higher for Stanley Cup finalists and Stanley Cup winners (albeit this is somewhat limited by the salary cap which might force players to move in order to earn it). There's also the endorsements and speaking fees etc.

bwaahaahaa... Going to hell in a hand basket cities? The only one of those cities not on the resonance list of the World's 100 best cities is Buenos Aires and 2 of the 7 are in the top ten. https://www.worldsbestcities.com/

Bwaahaahaa…. Do you mean the same right wing actors that have taken over Barcelona, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Melbourne, Milan, Paris and Portland?

    Edmonton Oilers

Apparently PK Subban is picking the Panthers in 6 “because they’ve just beaten the best hockey team in the world” and they have a deeper team with better special teams and goaltending than the Oilers. Sounds like he’s still p!$$ed the Oilers wouldn’t trade half their team for him when he wanted...

    The Edmonton Elks - CFL

It would be interesting to see a Commonwealth Stadium Stanley Cup watch party on the scoreboard screen after the Elks game…

Except what’s the point - or the logic - of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars planning and constructing medians and setbacks and playing fields and parks and then not maintaining them? If you want them to be “naturalized”, let them be from day one and put the money in the snow removal...

Tonight’s win might be the most complete game from the entire roster that the Oilers have played this year.

You must drive totally different streets and avenues than I do if you never see furloughed flower/shrub beds.! And if calling 311 is your primary suggestion then you must get completely different (as in actual) responses than the rest of us.

Sooo… Government Leader Joseph Schow thinks “We have a mandate from Albertans that was given to us in the last election,” adding “we have a job to do” does he? I don’t recall any of Bills 18, 20, 21 or 22 being part of the UCP election platform last year. A UCP mandate from Take Back Alberta...

Sooo… I just worked up the nerve to open my 2024 Property Tax Notice. It turns out the City of Edmonton wants 25.7% more from me in 2024 than I paid them in 2023. 25.7%!!! I guess it’s time to fire up the printing press in the basement that the City of Edmonton seems to think I own. 😞

That’s two straight games that were there for the taking if the Oilers didn’t take their foot off the gas although full marks to Dallas again for taking back control of the game after the first period.

Serious yes but I would assume if it was structural they would have had to vacate immediately, not in 30 days.

    Miscellaneous

Why? Percentage rent is typically the potential return to the landlord for accepting a lower fixed rent from a potential tenant. The tenant gets a break up front, a lower fixed commitment and only pays percentage rent at a rate the business can afford based on how well the business is doing.

???? They will probably occupy less retail space here than the retail space they will be vacating at 103rd and Jasper. That's not an opportunity lost, that's at worse a wash. And as part of that wash, they will occupy some 200,000 sf of space in the heart of the financial district with...
