The problem is we can't see the mass timber anymore, which is disappointing for many (most?) of us. It looks like an ordinary office building now, albeit with higher-quality cladding. Japan does wood buildings better indeed. (And based on the third pic, Japan does sidewalks better too.) Source:

Just up the street from the General Post Office, I'd like the Confederation Life Building restored to its original condition, especially the roofline. This is Toronto's version of the Postwar, truncated Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) sans the war. @thecharioteer, do you want to take it on...

Based on the second to last pic above by @Red Mars, I think it's pretty certain that Simons will be opening here.

I'd appreciate a Simons downtown although they've gotten quite pricey in the last few years.

^^^ It's nice and airy but $3 million??

I wonder how that'll work out in winter weather like we're having now. I'm guessing CF/Eaton Centre isn't losing any sleep.

The shopping concourse isn't fully enclosed from the outside, right?

Oops. I meant Tues to Fri. My mistake.

This pic is a perfect illustration of the difference between real, clay brick and concrete "brick panel," with the former being far, far superior.

Every time I pop into this thread, I regret it. What a hideous building. Sigh...

As a neighbour of this project, I dread when they hit bedrock. Drilling through bedrock for 6 months at The Saint was no picnic.

    St Lawrence Market

I spoke to a merchant at St. Lawrence Market this past Sunday to get his opinion on the extended hours. He was enthusiastic. He said Sunday is one of his busiest days. He also said the later closing on weekdays is appreciated by his customers a lot. He thinks that the market should close even...

Derided as "balcony architecture" and the balconies are messed up too.

I'd say there's a there's a dome and flagpole missing on the west side over the porte-cochère.

It may compliment the orange according to colour theory but it doesn't compliment the gunmetal grey. I don't know why it was necessary to go this route at all with such strong colour coming from the orange brises-soliel. But if you're going to add colour here too, go all the way. Don't choose a...

I don't think the blue compliments the orange or the remaining grey framing / I-beams at all. Frankly, I'm puzzled by the colour choice. I'm hoping this is some sort of primer for another colour.
