So much potential there! It's a shame that 8th Ave is unable to carry the vibrancy all the way to Mewata.

This is fantastic news and the added restaurants and lounge for the ground level will continue to solidify 10th Ave as the entertainment street in Calgary in my opinion

It's cool to see a building with the public corridor being part of the exterior. I remember seeing this all over London and wondered why they didn't do that here in Calgary. Likely due to the weather and upkeep here, but I would think you could create some savings by not having to heat these...

    Calgary Restaurant Thread

There's signage on this restaurant now for "Saucy" by Chef Michael Dekker. It looks like he was a chef at Rouge and an instructor at SAIT, and Saucy looks like it's going to be a burger and breakfast joint. The old Tim's has new signage that it's going to be a Deville! Nice upgrade

I think there's still 2 or 3 empty CRU's in this building, so a food establishment is still a possibility?

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I understand that the family is not a property developer, but can't they simply sell the property if they're just looking to retire? The land must be highly valued and future green line development will only further increase the potential value. Why sell it to the city, when you can get so much...

    Calgary Municipal Politics

The audience over at SkyscraperPage were huge advocates of Nenshi right at the beginning of his 2010 campaign. I supported him because of all the love he got over on the forum, but always thought he was a long shot. It was amazing to see how he was able to win over so much support in the last...

I thought that most conservative candidates for mayor and council during the last election were in favour of the arena seeing it benefits the business elite of the city

    General Construction Updates

Hahaha that's very 2012, but I guess it makes sense given they renamed Encana Place to the Edison

    Calgary | Eau Claire Market Redevelopment | 135.02m | 35s | Harvard Developments

This is one of the reasons why I had to unfollow them. They were pretty good when they would post about new store or restaurant openings, but they seem to be venturing into journalism over the last few years. However, they severely lack the journalistic integrity and means to be a valid...

    Calgary | 1216 8th Street | 85.04m | 25s | Great West Life | Zeidler

I agree with most people's comments that it's a nice addition but not ground breaking. However, I'm excited that this building will contribute to the improving 8th streetscape, which I feel like is turning into a nice north-south connection with the addition of the Urban Fare and Canadian Tire...

Where do hockey players stay currently when in town?

My sister lives in the Beltline and recently had a baby. She commented on how she realized how hostile the pedestrian experience is when you need to start a pushing a stroller throughout the neighbourhood. I couldn't imagine how much worse it is for people with disabilities...

I really like it. It's simple, graphic, and unexpected.

Could we finally get a Whole Foods? Or are they no longer expanding in the Canadian market?

I love the use of the patterned tile as well as it adds a nice design element. I always wondered why Calgary been slow to embrace patterned flooring in outdoor public spaces. It seems easy enough but maybe because of cost restraints in installation and repair work?

Do they have an architect chosen? Sounds like Dialog only did the architectural concept designs.

    Calgary | Arts Commons | 18m | 4s | City of Calgary | KPMB

It's great to hear progress on the project. Crazy to think that 3 art projects are likely going to be happen at around the same time: Arts Commons, Glenbow, and Contemporary Calgary. All of which are long overdue.

I also like how 10th Avenue is becoming the new entertainment street because of it's proximity to downtown. It will be nice for 17th Ave to be the high street, while 10th becomes the entertainment street.
