Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Shortening the current runway seems like a very bad idea if the airport is staying for the next 50 years. Wouldn’t that effectively shut down the airport for any commercial operations? Leaving the airport to be suitable only for general aviation purposes? (aka rich folks with private aircraft)

Parliament of Canada Block 2 Redevelopment | Government of Canada | David Chipperfield + Zeidler

Honestly handing over all of downtown Ottawa to NCC/the feds sounds like an excellent idea. The city of Ottawa clearly has no interest in maintaining a good public realm and lacks the vision and ambition necessary for a G7 capital. The contrast in public realm procurement quality between the...

Highway 401 Transit and Auto Tunnel

Yeah, I don't think any Federal partner is going to want to sign on to this. The likely outcome, if any, of this proposal is that it will be reworked a few times until it eventually dwindles down to being a few tunneled express segments around key interchanges.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Which has worked very well for Zurich for many years. Unless MX is planning super long trains on high frequency corridors, the push-pull config is not going to be that much slower than EMUs.

Highway 401 Transit and Auto Tunnel

Not to mention the added challenge of keeping a reasonable amount of traffic flow on North America's busiest highway while under construction. Lets assume this is a deep-bore tunnel to address the crossing concerns you highlighted previously. Start adding a few interchanges/exits to make the...

Highway 401 Transit and Auto Tunnel

This would without a doubt be the most expensive construction project in Canadian history, possibly North America (excluding the nationwide interstate project) I can’t wait for the eventual press leak on IO’s number for the project. Let’s not forget this is the land where bike paths cost 75...

Highway 401 Transit and Auto Tunnel

Insane. If pursued, there is no way they keep this from going north of 50 billion. Say goodbye to any transit expansion anytime soon if this project becomes a reality.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

If the plan is still to run 4 bilevels with one Eloco, the outcome will be roughly the same.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Electrification is easy when you only have one rail line.

    Toronto Bike Share

Maybe its time we allow private bikeshare/escooter services like every other city in Canada?

    Zoning Reform Ideas

Also of note - Edmonton and Calgary are still approving multiple new subdivisions every year, and neither city has a "greenbelt" I do think we can learn a bit from Edmonton on being more ambitious when it comes to multiplex policy though. Edmonton was able to pass a multiplex bylaw that allows...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I mean there are many commutes along line 1 and 2 where its faster to drive outside of rush hour. This line increases the viability of living without a car in north Toronto and that's still a win, even if it isn't the fastest option.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Osgoode Station | ?m | 1s | Metrolinx | HDR

Is there a public art program for any of these stations? I'm noticing the huge amount of wall space available in the escalator shaft @Frankietls

I might just move to BC if we can't boot this guy out

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Could be anything, really. But if it's going to open before 2025, this is the last chance to announce it.

The solution is a dedicated bus route in and out of the downtown core

    Zoning Reform Ideas

https://vancouversun.com/opinion/columnists/vancouver-fast-track-social-housing-projects Vancouver is considering as-of-right zoning reform for social housing and non-profit co-op housing projects in large swaths of the city. The proposal calls for some neighbourhood cores of the city to...

    Public Art in Toronto

I have no problems with quirky and weird art but this is really poorly integrated into the existing context. The money would be better spent on improving landscaping around the entrance area - granite pavers and a tree or two to the north and south of the elevated station.
