    The Fountains Of Toronto

There is a lovely little park located at the south east intersection of Spadina and Wellington streets named "Clarence Square". There is an equally lovely little fountain in the park. Unfortunately the fountain has been hidden behind an ugly makeshift graffiti covered plywood box for the better...

I really hate raw concrete so I’m opened to anything (except the barber pole). Maybe I’ll try some photoshop renders. 😊

I know this is off topic but I would like to see the CN tower concrete mast clad in something colourful... or even black with bright coloured details. The pods are great as they are.

    Toronto Toronto | U of T: Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre (Phase 1) | 64.8m | 13s | U of T | Weiss/Manfredi

I wish our city planners had insisted more on mid-rise development on our main streets rather than the decades of high rise buildings we ended up with. Imagine neighbourhoods with dozens of mid-rise buildings as interesting as the SR Innovation Centre. A good mix of mid-rise buildings with lots...

I really wanted to like this building. Granted what it replaced was abysmal.

Has anyone seen a rendering or indication of the proposed cladding to be used on the interior hangers.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

This is disgusting. This city is choking itself with runaway greed. Where are our legislators? Cities can collapse in just a few years. People need homes.

Wow, those are pretty dismal looking renders. Is it just me or does this proposal seem to miss in every way possible?

It seems to me that the designers are trying to do too much. There’s no focus no “ center”. The design elements just kind of bump into each other and are confusing in both the layout and style. The boulders act as barriers instead of a comforting place to sit and relax. The park lacks warmth.

Looks a little like what the Eaton Centre could have been rather than the BS suburban mall that was pitched to city council decades ago. Good to see we learned from our mistakes. Well done!

I’m surprised that the parking lot north of the old bus terminal isn’t included in the site. I’m pretty sure that it’s owned by the city.

does anyone know if the sculpture by Frances Gage and or the Art Deco staircase from the old hospital is incorporated into the new interior? I’ve wandered around the lobby and saw no evidence of them. I vaguely recall reading an article that suggested they would be saved. Oh well...

Is it just me, or, is that one ugly building?

My thoughts exactly WMedia. The first thing I notice are the ugly utility poles and hydro lines. Hopefully they will get buried. If not I’m going to complain loudly. This city needs a design overseer.

Looks like my criticism of this building just being another glass box was wrong. The final details have tied it all together quite eloquently.

Looks like the glass canopy is finally getting installed. In reference to trees in this part of Yonge, I think the long overdue revitalization of Yonge south of College is to commence this coming spring.

I much prefer what’s there now. It’s nice to have some texture and playfulness, unlike the monolithic proposal.
