Lovely design. I really, really, REALLY, hope that the warm materials indicated in the renderings become a reality. A city that suffers through gray winter months could use a little gentle warmth.

Ugly, clumsy, heavy, overworked and a lack of cohesive design but, other than that, it’s worthy of a C-.

"Pride goeth before the fall", I'm just saying.

I love the texture on the white panels. It's so nice to see detailed texture. So many new builds have slick, shiny curtain walls, that lack "interest" and do nothing more than reflect light. I'm curious to see how the white will age.

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

2023? To be completed in 2025? Considering that this forum thread opened in 2007, that’s 16 years before the project even begins, I don’t have much faith in the 2025 completion date. No rush, it’s not like we want tourists and visitors to walk away with a good impression of our somewhat...

Ditto, Great to have photos from a new vantage point! Does anyone know if the cement pumps will be used on the upper floors and if so how? I assume that buckets will take over at a certain height??

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

Thanks Innsertnamehere and Alvino for the explanation.

Can someone explain to those of us who are not well versed in engineering terminology exactly what a transfer slab is. Please keep it simple. Thanks.

Barring any injuries, too bad it didn't fall on the podium.

Very nice grid, proportions, details, etc. It's an excellent facade for an institutional building but it's basically another grey box, which I dare say we have more than enough of in Toronto. Even though it would probably not be appropriate for a courthouse I prefer the whimsy and color of the...

I kinda like it but I might change my mind after I see it in person. I welcome any new development on Broadview. It's a great location and, in my opinion, under developed. A string of mid rises on the east side overlooking the spectacular view of downtown would be fantastic but I'm sure the cost...

Wow! This entire block is under the shovel.

A welcome addition to a miserable street. Hopefully it will spark more mid rise development in the area.

I agree concrete_and_light. It's a nifty little space. The proposed monoliths are uninspired and generic. A city needs its little intimate relatable, comfortable spaces. Yeeesh!

This proposal has all the signs of “comity” overkill. It needs fresh eyes and fresh ideas. Sometimes a heavy hand is required. This intersection is too important to mess up. Start again but start with a grand vision. No more nibbling at the edges.

Thanks for reaching out. Given the current COVID-19 environment, we will use this time to ensure that any plans we have for the site moving forward aligns with business and community opportunities." Is this English? They lost me at “reaching out”. There should be a way for the city to fine...
